Assure method assignment
1. ASSURE Method Assignment
A – 1st Graders, ages 6-8, 10 Boys, 7 Girls, 70% White, 20% African-American, 10% Latino. &
students in the class have mild to severe ADHD. These students will have difficulty paying
attention and sitting still during classwork.
S – The students will list the months of the year, regardless of order, by making a calendar,
playing a game, making posters, and watching a video, by the end of the week with 100%
accuracy.
S – Materials needed will include colored paper, writing utensils, tape, and other crafting
materials. Media used to present information will include projector to display video. Methods
will include creating a calendar out of paper, using colored paper for posters, playing a game that
involves connecting months with holidays through association and watching a video on the
months of the year and what is special about them.
U – All materials needed for activities, as well as a review of the information for teacher
presentation will be gathered and reviewed prior to the first class period. Teacher will begin
class each day with a brief presentation followed by a video on the months of the year. Students
will then be instructed to create a calendar on the first and second day, posters on the third and
fourth day, and finally play a game on the fifth and final day.
R – Teacher will provide instruction and advice to students both initially and throughout the
course of the week while students are working on their different activities. Students should be
asked how they like the activities as well as their thoughts on months of the year as well during
this period.
2. E – Student feedback and teacher observation of the way students use materials and complete
activities should be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the media and materials used. Moving
about the classroom and asking students questions to assess their knowledge of the months of the
year will be used. Assessment should take place during student activities throughout the entire
week and special attention should be given to the game on the final day where students will
answer association questions on the months.
