For a company that has many important
projects, it’s tempting to tap the same
experienced leader.
- The experienced leader has a good record
of success
- The company does not want to put any of
the projects at risk of failure
Reconsidering the Selection
Process
• But when the same team leader is
selected to lead over and over again, this
could have a negative impact on:
- The team leader
- The team and its performance
- Retention of emerging talent (e.g. “talent
to watch”)
