Abstract Human–computer interaction is a discipline concerned with the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use. The field formally emerged out of computer science, cognitive psychology and industrial design through the 1960s, formulating guidelines for the development of interactive computer systems highlighting usability concerns for improved interfaces. Computing devices are becoming more prevalent and integrated into both our social and work spaces.HCI therefore plays an important role in ensuring that computer systems are not only functional but also respect the needs and capabilities of the humans that use them. HCI encompasses not only ease of use but also new interaction techniques. It involves input and output devices and the interaction techniques that use them; presentation of information, control and monitoring of computer’s actions and the processes that developers follow when creating interfaces. In this seminar, emphasis is laid on the movement of a user’s eyes which can provide a convenient, natural, and high-bandwidth source of additional user input. Some of the human factors and technical considerations that arise in trying to use eye movements as an input medium and the first eye movement-based interaction techniques are discussed in this section. Apply psychological theories to a case study in human sexuality. Competency 2: Apply scholarly research findings to topics in human sexuality. Apply scholarly research findings to a case study in human sexuality. Competency 3: Explain how ethics inform professional behavior in the field of human sexuality. Explain how ethics inform professional behavior in the field of human sexuality. Competency 4: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with expectations for professionals in the field of psychology. Write coherently to support a central idea with correct grammar, usage, and mechanics as expected of a psychology professional. Use APA format and style Most sexual behavior problems must be delineated within the context of the individual's personality, lifestyle, and relationships with others. It is usually simplistic to label any particular behavior automatically as a problem. Several criteria are given that can be used to define sexual problems and that can help put problematic sex into a more realistic and sensible perspective. Determining when a sexual preference behavior becomes a problem is highly subjective and requires a look into different aspects of an individual's life, including his or her lifestyle and cultural and social belief systems. Sexual abuse, coercion, and assault of others represent serious sexual problems (Kelly, 2015). Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and a variety of other medical conditions can affect the sex organs and sexual activity. Whereas STDs once were discussed only briefly in most human sexuality courses, they are emerging as important issues again. Considering that the incidence of several diseases is on the rise, and that more organisms are being recognized as being capable of sexual transmission, such a trend may be timely. One of the most significant findings of the National Health and Social Life Survey (NHSLS) was the direct correlation between the numbers of sexual partners people have had and the likelihood that they will have had a STD (National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, 1992). Defining sexual dysfunctions is somewhat subjective, and individual differences in the sexual response cycle are often perfectly normal. Rather than simply labeling each dysfunction and explaining it separately, we must examine it based on the broader picture of sexual responsiveness and the total sexual relationship. In recent years, there has been greater emphasis on potential organic conditions that can manifest themselves in sexual difficulties, including the effects of alcohol, other drugs, and certain medication ...

TAGS: COVER STORY Beauty is in the Mind of the Beholder ERIC WARGO ATTRACTION BEAUTY FACE PERCEPTION PHYSICAL APPEARANCE SEX DIFFERENCES SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY There’s no getting around it. In this world, you’re better o being good-looking. At all ages and in all walks of life, attractive people are judged more favorably, treated better, and cut more slack. Mothers give more aection to attractive babies. Teachers favor more attractive students and judge them as smarter. Attractive adults get paid more for their work and have better success in dating and mating. And juries are less likely to find attractive people guilty and recommend lighter punishments when they do. Many factors can play into personal attractiveness — the way you dress, the way you act, the way you carry yourself, even things that are hard or impossible to change, like social status and wealth, race, and body size and shape. But the first thing we notice when we meet someone is their face. There are faces that launch a thousand ships, and faces that only a mother could love, and we are supremely attuned to tell the dierence. The brain, among its many other functions, is a beauty detector. The brain is such a good beauty detector, in fact, that it can judge the appeal of a face before you’re aware you’ve even seen one. When participants in a recent study were presented with attractive and unattractive faces for only 13 milliseconds, they were able to judge the faces’ attractiveness accurately (that is, in accordance with experimenters’ ratings), even though they were not consciously aware of the stimuli and felt like they were just guessing (Olson & Marshuetz, 2005). Observer > 2011 > April > Beauty is in the Mind of the Beholder https://www.psychologicalscience.org/ https://www.psychologicalscience.org/tag/attraction https://www.psychologicalscience.org/tag/beauty https://www.psychologicalscience.org/tag/facial-perception https://www.psychologicalscience.org/tag/physical-appearance https://www.psychologicalscience.org/tag/sex-differences https://www.psychologicalscience.org/tag/social-psychology https://www.psychologicalscience.org/observer https://www.psychologicalscience.org/issue/2011 https://www.psychologicalscience.org/issue/april-11 There is no doubt that beauty (which here means both male and female attractiveness) is to some extent in the eye of the beholder, but across individuals and across cultures there is nevertheless considerable agreement about what makes a pretty or handsome face, and the evidence strongly counters the conventional wisdom that attractiveness preferences are mainly acquired through life experience. For one thing, the beauty bias is already present in infancy. Six-month-olds prefer to look at the same relatively attractive faces that adults do (Rubenstein, Kalakanis, & Langlois, 1999). Truth in Beauty The question is, is beauty really only skin deep, or does an attractive face actually reflect underlying ...

This research study intends to explore the educational and social considerations of spouse selection preferences of people with and without special needs. This study was quantitative in its nature and survey research design was used. The population of the study was the students from four universities in Lahore city. Sample of the study delimited to four Universities, University of the Sargodha Lahore Campus University of the Punjab, University of Lahore & University of the Gujarat Lahore campus Total 98 students were selected through convenient sampling. Researchers have used self-developed questionnaire for data collection. Researchers have personally collected the data. Descriptive and inferential statistical procedures were used to analyze the data. Findings of this study reveals that youngsters prefer to marry in the age of 21-25 years with the age difference of 4-6 years of their spouses. Educational considerations, personality traits and same religious background were the top preferred features of the spouse selection criteria. People with special needs prefer the spouse selection considering the above characteristics plus of disability of the same nature. People without special needs not prefer the spouse with disability. There is significant difference in the spouse selection preferences between the gender and disability status of the respondents. In Pakistan, there is no comprehensive study about the preferences in spouse selection of males and females so there is need to more work on broad level in terms of spouse selection preferences.
