Pearl and Mother of Pearl Earrings
By Judy Larson
Materials:
10” of 22 gauge round wire
One pair silver plated fish hook earrings
Two 20mm mother of pearl disks
Two 8mm freshwater circle pearls
Two 2½” silver plated headpins
Note: The wire used in this tutorial is silver
plated craft wire. It is considered dead soft.
Tools:
Round, flat and chain nose pliers
Flush cutter
Ruler
Directions:
Step 1: Insert a headpin into one of the Mother of Pearl disks. Make a wire
wrapped loop at the top. Repeat with the other Mother of Pearl disk. Set aside.
Step 2: Cut the 10” piece of 22 gauge
wire in half. Create a small wire
wrapped loop 1 ½” from the end of
each wire. Thread a pearl on each wire
and start a wire wrapped loop on the other end. Hint: Do
not cut off the wire from wrapping any of the loops until the
last wire wrapped loop is made. That way, you can make
them all even. If you wait to cut off all wires until you have
all 4 wrapped loops made, you will be assured of matched
earrings. When all the wire wrapped loops are completed,
flush cut the wire ends and tuck them in using chain nose pliers.
Step 3: Slide a wire wrapped disk onto the loop just
created and finish the wrapping.
Step 4: Open the loop on one earring and slide on a
bead assembly. Close the earring loop. Repeat with
the other earring. Your earrings are done!

With just a few changes to the components of the earrings you just made, you can whip up a variety
of earrings that everyone will love!
