3. Types of Clouds
There are many
different types
of clouds in the
sky. There are
some that are
more common
to see than
others.

4. Stratus Clouds
•Stratus clouds are grayish clouds that often cover
the entire sky.
• They resemble fog that does not reach the ground.
•Do we see these types of clouds in the sky?

5. Stratus Clouds continued
 Usually no rain drops falls from stratus
clouds.
 It may only be a mist or a drizzle.

6. Cirrus Clouds
• Cirrus clouds are thin, wispy clouds blown by high winds
into long streamers.
Cirrus clouds move across the sky from west to east.
They generally mean we will have fair to pleasant weather.

7. Cirrostratus Clouds
• Cirrostratus clouds are thin, sheet like high clouds that often cover
the entire sky.
•They are so thin that the sun and moon can be seen through them.

ulus Clouds
Cumulus clouds are puffy clouds that sometimes look like pieces of
floating cotton.
The base of each cloud is often flat and above the ground.
The top of the cloud has rounded towers.
Sometimes they can form shapes we can see, like a hand, or bird.

 When the top of the cumulus resembles the head of a
cauliflower, they can develop into a giant cloud, which
is a thunderstorm cloud.

thunderstorm cloud.
 Lightning, thunder, and even tornadoes are formed from these
clouds.
