  24. CLARK MCDOWALL / ICBINB & COUNTRY CROCK NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH Phase 4 was provided the approved tub and lid design files for each SKU to begin the project. We were also supplied final die-lines along with the stock imagery used in the designs. Our assignment was to createToolbox files for release to Schawk. The biggest challenge of the project was to align seamed photographic imagery 360° around the tub. Digital retouching and assembly was required. P4 worked with Clark McDowall’s design team to execute the two introductory SKUs. We provided technical support and coordination with CMD, Unilever and Schawk. Color proofs were supplied as final color targets. The above images were created by Phase 4 for use in promotion.
  25. MERCK CONSUMER CARE / LOTRIMIN AF BRAND LINE EXTENSIONS Vertical Carton ExtensionVertical Carton Extension Powder Label Extension Current Horizontal Carton Current Horizontal Carton Working with the current fifth-panel cream cartons, we created the vertical carton front panel extensions requested by Walmart, while maintaining the brands design architecture. Also developed the new powder SKU using the new proprietary bottle structure and label. Developed the “New Look, Same Product” violators for each of the carton front panels. Supplied pre-production art template files to Schawk for final production.
  26. BOULDER BRANDS / EARTH BALANCE FLAVOR EXTENSIONS / 3D RENDERINGSBOULDER BRANDS / EARTH BAL TENSIONS / 3D RENDERINGSLANCE FLAVOR EXT Phase 4 was supplied design files for the tub front panels and lids, die-lines, the current Coconut SKU art, and printing specifications to create production art files for these IML’s. Our initial task was to create the photographic flavor imagery for each. With Phase 4’s on-site direction, our photography partner, Brenner Photo, provided us with raw shots which we silhouetted, color corrected and retouched. We selected the final Pantone® color palette for both flavors and created print-ready production files for the 4 components. Finally, P4 created the 3D product renderings shown above to be used for promotion.
  27. THE HAIN CELESTIAL GROUP / MARTHA STEWART CLEAN BRAND IMPLEMENTATION After the final design was approved by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and The Hain Celestial Group for the first three product front panels, P4 was hired to create the line extensions for the additional 7 products and all back panels, which was challenging due to the amount of bilingual copy required along with flexo font size minimums. We worked closely to coordinate the entire project with the Martha Stewart team to develop final production files for all labeling and corrugated shipper display trays for all SKUs. The above line-up is the second generation labeling which needed to include Spanish translations. We were responsible for managing all translations on the clients behalf. Created 250 3D comprehensives, both front and back labels, for a Household Products Trade Show.

  30. CLARK MCDOWALL / TEAS’ TEA IMPLEMENTATION / 3D PRODUCT RENDERINGS P4 was brought into the project by Clark McDowall to handle both pre-production and final implementation of the 7 SKUs above. Included was extension of the back panels across all flavors from a single design supplied. Modified process color separations were created for each image and the blue color banding. After completing the production and implementation phases of the Teas’ Tea brand restage, a 3D product rendering of each SKU was created for use in promotion, advertising and brands website. Both RGB and CMYK versions were supplied.
  31. NOVARTIS CONSUMER HEALTH / KERI LOTION BRAND IMPLEMENTATION Novartis Design Management hired us to create final production files for screen printing of the entire Keri Lotion Line. The project entailed refinement and rendering of the final Keri brandmark; extension of the front panel design and creation of the back panel imprints for all remaining sizes for 24 SKUs; selection of the final Pantone® color palette; development of a custom Keri gold screen ink with the printers’ ink supplier.

  34. GNU FOODS / FLAVOR & FIBER BARS FLAVOR EXTENSIONS With the introduction of two new flavors to the GNU Foods Flavor & Fiber bar line, Phase 4 was contracted to create the flavor extensions through to final production for the new Espresso Chip and Lemon Ginger flavors. The key project objectives were to match the brands’ current “quirky” illustration style and determine the new flavor illustrations and color coding to work with the current flavors in the line. Upon approval of the five bar outer carton, extension to the bar wrapper foils and 12 count display cartons were also developed. Current Packaging
  35. CLEAR CARE BRAND / COSTCO ON-PACK PROMOTION After completion of the production and implementation phases of the Clear Care Brand Restage, our client requested that we provide a violator exploration for the new Costco On-pack Promotion. Working with the current brand architecture and color palette of the brands’ current violators, we created the four versions shown above. Violator #2 was selected by the CibaVision brand group and Costco. Promotional Violator #1 Promotional Violator #2 Promotional Violator #3 Promotional Violator #4

  37. LIGHTLIFE FOODS / SMART POUCHES BRAND IMPLEMENTATION After we completed the initial pouch items shown above, Phase 4 extended this new product line to there additional flavors. Anticipating the growth of the line, we initially created a multi-layered Photoshop master background which allowed flexibility for all future line extensions. This enabled us to shoot upcoming products individually (inset above), silhouette and place them into our master. The brand used our master background throughout the entire Lightlife line of products during a brand restage. We were responsible for art direction of photography, in-house retouching, and creation of all production art. RAW Image
  38. GLENN FOODS / GLENNY’S FRUIT & NUT BARS BRAND IMPLEMENTATION Working with the front panel 5-pack design concept for the first two flavors, P4 developed the additional two front panels as well as the remaining carton panels. Provided all photography, retouching & assembly and print production files that included one Pantone® spot channel for the background color. All components were printed CMYK plus one spot color. Extended the 5-pack cartons to the bar wrappers and 12-Pack retail shelf trays. Coordination with print suppliers. 12-Pack ExtensionBar Wrapper Extension

  43. THE HAIN CELESTIAL GROUP / YVES VEGGIE CUISINE NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH Brand Positioning Statement Yves is North America’s leading innovator of premium meatless protein and meal solution products for consumers looking for fun, great tasting ways to eat more healthfully as they control calories and reduce fat intake and cholesterol… and all this while making the planet a better place. Creative Brief The first phase of the project is to develop proprietary carton structures for each of the 2 product lines,Veggie Seafood and Vegan Grain Meat. The cartons developed must not require gluing during production as the manufacturing line does not have that capability. We are requesting one custom structure for each line. All recommendations must be tested and approved by packaging engineering prior to creative development. Yves Brand Management wishes to create an evolutionary design system to help move the brand forward and introduce the two new product forms into theYves line. All designs must include serving suggestion photography for appetite appeal. Each new product line will consist of 3 SKUs and all must work cohesively at retail. The key product attributes are: • Gourmet selection, great taste • Convenient meal solution • Vegetarian – No meat or seafood • No seafood allergens • Kosher • No genetically modified ingredients

We were required to use the current product photography and variant color palette. Our assignment was to create the product extensions using the newly createdYves brand architecture through to final production. The brands color segmentation was maintained, a plate was added to each sandwich image, and the new soy field imagery was introduced to the top banner. Files included a Pantone® 186 spot channel where required.

  52. LIGHTLIFE SMART MENU BRAND / PRODUCTION & IMPLEMENTATION Created production art for each of the 7 products shown below. After the final carton and bag designs were approved by Lightlife management, we managed all phases of print production for the Smart Menu restage. We were responsible for photo supervision and handled all of the retouching and assembly in our studio. Created multiple versions of the “sun rays” artwork for use on the flexible bag packaging for a stochastic dot print test. The print test determined the best artwork and values for final reproduction of the three bags.
  53. SUNKIST CANDY PRINT PRODUCTION CASE HISTORY Only on very rare occasions do you get the opportunity to produce a 10-color package, but the Sunkist Candy project for Simply Lite Foods was one of those occasions. Our client contracted with a printer in Shantou, China to produce the 8 flexible packaging components for this new line of candy products. Coincidentally, the printer had recently acquired a new Italian-made13-color rotogravure press. Our client gave us his approval to use as many or all of those 13 ink stations. This gave us the ability to adhere to the strict Sunkist Growers Pantone® color standards (4 colors) and still have the additional stations for CMYK for the fruit and candy art, and any additional Pantone® colors needed for product segmentation. The challenge for the production team was to create files that would be fool-proof since no one was attending the press run in China. As a result,it was necessary to create individual separated raster-based files that consisted of CMYK plus an additional 6 Pantone® spot-color channels, and in total we created 12 pre-separated files. We also supplied separated pdf files for each of the 8 components to be used for cylinder comparison by the printer in China. The client requested cylinder imprints on our behalf so that we could do our own comparison here in the US prior to the actual print run. The result of the due diligence for this project was eight perfectly reproduced packaging components, printed with zero problems.

  58. CHATTEM / SELSUN SALON PRODUCTION WITH SPOT CHANNEL SEPARATIONS With careful pre-design planning, we were able to print the 4 labels shown with one ink station wash-up for the formula color change, and one rotary screen change for the different formula names and adjoining text. The background master required a single channel color change which kept production costs down. The yellow areas shown indicates the printed white plate within the spot channel file. The silver hot stamp plate was common to all labels as well. Part of the success of the project is also attributed to the label printer who used direct-to-plate technology which allowed the soft 1% gradient edges within the art. The client experienced a significant cost savings for label production as a result of our execution and project planning.

GLAXOSMITHKLINE /TAGAMET BRAND SPOT COLOR SEPARATIONS Final Background Composite Process Black PMS 109PMS 2767 PMS 2728 PMS Warm Red Upon approval of the new packaging design for the Tagamet HB 200 brand, P4 was directed to create a separated master template file for use on all carton sizes. Using the provided CMYK Epson color proof as a target, we created multiple sets of custom separations utilizing a range of Pantone® ink colors for the background to determine the best overprint combination. A Dupont Waterproof was created with multiple front panels as our preliminary test. After minor modifications to the initial tested Pantone background colors, a final Dupont proof was created for client approval which was provided to each print supplier as the final color target. The master spot color separations supplied to pre-press are shown above.

  61. UNILEVER HBC / CLEAR SCALP & HAIR 3D PRODUCT RENDERINGS Phase 4 was hired by Unilever HBC to create a total of 57 individual 3D product renderings which included each packaging component within the new Clear Scalp & Hair line. All final renderings were color corrected to match the supplied bottles, tubes and carton. Epson color proofs were supplied as final color targets. Phase 4 is responsible for maintaining and creating additional components for the Clear line. The renderings are used for the web, print and promotion.
  62. Phase 4 was hired to create a new club store corrugated tray for Costco. As part of the assignment, it was necessary to create this master image, compositing, retouching and color correcting provided art and a client supplied stock splash image. The challenge was to modify the stock splash photography to match the individual Mighty Pacs art in both color and style. The final art was used as the main image on the club store tray. SUN PRODUCTS CORP / ALL MIGHTY PACS DISPLAY ART
  63. NOVARTIS CONSUMER HEALTH / ALPHA KERI DIGITAL ART RAW Image 1Label Image RAW Image 2 RAW Image 3 Phase 4 provided digital art and final production for the Alpha Keri brand restage which included the creation of a bottle image and splashing water backgrounds for the Alpha Keri cartons and labels. Working with a combination of multiple digital photos of the bottle, a digital illustration for the pour, and our label production file, we created the final bottle image (above) for use on the final cartons.
  64. HERR FOODS / KETTLE COOKED POTATO CHIPS DIGITAL ART The new Herr’s Kettle Cooked bag design required a prominent front panel photographic image for the first three flavors. We photographed over 20 individual chips and 4 single potatoes to insure we would have enough to build the final image. The photo above was created using eight individually retouched images assembled for use as the master image. To create the Mesquite BBQ & Jalapeño images shown above, we retouched and color corrected the master image to match the product samples supplied.
  65. GFA BRANDS / SMART BALANCE DIGITAL ART We were hired by creative services to develop a photographic image of a white heart-shaped coffee cup with a pour and surface splash for use on packaging. Our model maker created a lucite pour and splash based on a comp rendering supplied by the client. We supervised the photography, retouched and assembled multiple images, and finally modified the cup shape to create the final image above. RAW Image 2RAW Image 1 RAW Image 3 RAW Image 4
