2. Dependent Variable
• Teen Pregnancy, is pregnancy by a female, age 13 to 19, which is
understood to occur in a girl who hasn’t completed her core education—
secondary school—has few or no marketable skills, is financially
dependent upon her parents, and/or continues to live at home and is
mentally immature.
3. Independent Variables
• The independent variables chosen to relate to
Teen Pregnancy in the United States are birth
rate, abortion rate, and percent Caucasian.
8. Summary
• There was an obvious increase in teen pregnancy throughout the
past few years. The number of abortions, births, and the percent
Caucasian within pregnancies is statistically associated with teen
pregnancy. The results from the regression analysis show that as
the amount of abortions, Caucasians, and birth rates increase, so
does the amount of teen pregnancies. The race of the teens is
related to teen pregnancies as the number of abortions and births
are taken into account. While we have gathered information on all
races African Americans showed the highest number of teen
pregnancy. If the teen however chooses abortion there will still be
very difficult obstacles to overcome, and in some situations could
lead to suicide. Teen pregnancy has gotten better in the United
States, but is still a major problem that we have to take notice in
and deal with.
