5. Your Cover Photo
Be sure to choose an image that visibly expresses your
page’s identity
Dimensions – 851 X 315 pixels
Cannot include:
Price or purchase information, such as discounts or download offers
Contact information such as website address, email, mailing
address, etc.
References to Facebook features such as ‘Like’, ‘Share’, or an arrow
pointing from the cover photo to another part of your page
Calls-to-action such as ‘Get it now’ or ‘Tell your friends’

11. Your Profile Image
The profile image if your brand identity that
shows on the bottom left of your cover photo
follows you wherever you post on Facebook
Dimensions – 180 X 180 pixels
Thumbnail will be sized down to – 32 X 32 pixels

Same rule applies as before: create great content
About section under profile image
Tabs are gone – replaced with thumbnails under cover
Milestones, pinned posts and highlighted posts

4 apps can be featured (photo app cannot be moved)
Drop down with up to 12 apps
Each app can have a 111 x 74 pixel thumbnail
Old apps will work, but you not have the full width of
the screen to play with

Add in your history, all the way back to your founding
Milestones to consider adding:
When your institution officially started
When you introduced certain program offerings
When your institution reached certain relevant milestones such as:
Reaching a certain amount of students enrolled
Nailed down a powerful partnership with another organization
Received a substantial endowment from a donor
17. Your Pinned Posts
Pin posts to the top of your page, no matter when they
took place
Pinned posts will be anchored to the top of your page for
up to 7 days
Hover over the pencil icon on the post and click ‘pin to top’
Considerations:
New catalogue rollouts
New program offerings
Important upcoming events
19. Your Highlighted Posts
Highlighted posts span across the entire width
Give the content more real estate by highlighting it
Roll over the pencil icon, and click ‘highlight’
Considerations:
Highlight photo albums of classes in action, or
graduating students
Highlight videos and sizzle reels
Highlight successful events

1. Get your team on a meeting to discuss the updates and how you will
take advantage
2. Go to your Facebook page and click preview to see your page in
timeline view
3. Get working on your cover photo and profile image
4. Add in milestones to at least cover 5-10 notable moments in your
organization’s history
5. Decide what applications you’re going to put into play and feature on
the page
6. Start taking advantage! View your Facebook insights at least once a
month to measure success
