2. Born and Raised
I was born and raised in a
small town in eastern
Oklahoma with a
population of 140-150.
I went to a school that
only had 4 rooms for 8
grades until the 8th
grade.
I was transferred to a
larger school that
graduated with a class of
32 people.
3. Naval Career
After graduating from
high school I joined the
Navy in the submarine
service where I became a

It was there where I
learned electronics and
received my BS in
Electronics.
4. Naval/Civilian Career
I stayed in the Navy for
24 years where I spent a
lot of time as an
instructor gaining the
award Master Training
Specialist (MTS).
After retiring from the
Navy I joined several
defense contractors as a
technician and trainer.
5. Current Job
I currently work for the
US Coast Guard as the
Unit Training Officer.
I train personnel in
intelligence operations
at the Maritime
Intelligence Fusion
Center (Atlantic).
6. Current job (cont.)
My job is varied in
nature. I train coasties
as well as plan exercises
for MIFC LANT.
I live in Virginia Beach,
VA with my wife (and
high school sweetheart)
Sandra. We have three
children all living on
their own.
7. Career Goals
My career goal is to be a trainer with the government
or a corporation. I enjoy my job training with the
USCG, but I’m attempting to get a new job with
FEMA as their trainer for region VI (Texas).
It’s back in front of trainees and it gets me closer to
home.
8. Favorite Communications Tool
Because I’ve been in the military since I was 18 I have
learned to ensure everything is record messages.
My favorite tool for communications is e-mail.
It is quick, reliable and gives me a record of all
transactions and information.
9. Course Goals
My goals for the course is to gain as much
information about authoring tool as possible. This is
all new to me. Most of my career has been training
and the most technical application I’ve used has been
PowerPoint and a whiteboard. This grad cert has
taught me so much so far and I’m looking forward to
more.
10. True or False
I was a select crew that
conducted research at
the North Pole.
As part of my security
training I was
responsible for ferreting
out spies from foreign
countries.
