In what way does your media product
use,develop or challenge forms and conventions
of existing media products?
2. • The genre of my film is Action
drama.Warner Brothers being a
large media conglomerate produce
high budget action drama films as
compared to other institutions.
WhereasWarner Brothers is my
media institution since it has
produced a number of top grossing
action films. Some examples of the
Action drama films ofWarner Bros
are: THE 3rd MAN,The Dark knight,
The Bodyguard, Inception, Gravity.
The Dark knight is one of the
highest grossing film ofWarner Bros
by $533 Million. Action drama –
Combines action set-pieces with
serious themes, character insight
and/or emotional power.This sub-
genre can be traced back to the
origins of the action film.
3. • The action genre is a class of creative works
characterized by more emphasis on exciting
action sequences than on character development
or story-telling.The genre encompasses action
fiction, action films, action games and analogous
media in other formats such as manga and
anime.There are many sub-genres, Including
martial arts action, extreme sports action, car
chases and vehicles, Suspense action, and action
comedy, with each focusing in more detail on its
own type and flavor of action. It is usually
possible to tell from the creative style of an
action sequence, the genre of the entire creative
works. For example, the style of a Combat
sequence will indicate whether the entire works is
an action adventure, or Martial arts. Action is
mainly defined by a lot of focus on any kind of
movement. Action films involve one or more
heroes thrust into a series of challenges requiring
physical feats, extended fights, extensive stunts
and frenetic chases. Story and character
development are generally secondary to
explosions, fist fights, gunplay and car chases.
Both historically and currently, action films have
wide commercial appeal and enjoy box office
success.The action film revolves around a
narrative, to be sure, but more importantly than
that, a hero; when a moviegoer thinks of an
action picture, more often than not they are
thinking of a specific actor
4. • My film ‘The Final Fight’ follows a
set of codes and conventions which
an ‘Action Drama’ should follow. I
made use of all the elements of the
mis-en-scene. For example: Props,
Costume, Lighting, Sound and
Editing techniques to help my
audience recognize the genre of
my film.The mis-en-scene used in
the film portrays a poor teenage
boy, medals hanged on the wall
shows that he was a fighter before,
the injury on his leg due to which
now he could not even walk
properly. For walking he use a
walker shown in the film.

Harold was holding in his hand is of
the world championship where he
wants to fight for the prize money
which will make him rich.
5. • In an action film the kind
of clothes worn by the
fighters are very casual,
mostly male fighters wear
pajamas only . In my film
characters are wearing
pajamas and hoods . On
their hoods they have tied
their karate belts.There is
an injury on Harold’s foot
so a plaster can be seen
on his leg.
6. • The editing techniques I have used in
my film shows my main character
dreaming of the fighting
championship while he is asleep. I put
black &white effect and noise so that
it portray a dream. Other than that
Dip to black is used for the scene
change .
The background music used during
the fight scene is thrilling which
would develop the interest of
audience. And the sad part of the film
where Harold realize that he cannot
fight now have a slow background
music, such music is used to create or
make audience feel what the
character would be feeling at that
moment. I have dubbed a voiceover
of Harold for self motivation.
7. • The title of my film
has been made
according to the
genre of my movie
which also portrays
that its an action
movie. I used
different ways to
create title of my film
and ended up with
iMovies.The
animation of my title
and the sound makes
it more attractive for
the youth/young
audience .
9. • Usually in an Action Drama if
there is a fight scene so its
must to have some crowd
whose watching or cheering.
But in my film I showed the
fight as a dream so I didn’t
show the crowd cheering to
watching the fight . My film
challenges this convention by
not having a girl in it.The plot
solely revolves around two
boys Harold & John instead of
having a girl in the film who
could be his sister or lover.
