7. A ratio can be expressed three ways:• Using the fraction bar (division line) 35• Using a colon symbol as in 3 : 5• Using the “to” as in 3 to 5.
8. Write the ratio of 2 flutes to 16 clarinets in 3 ways. (Hint: What you read first goes first. What you read second goes second.)
9. Fractions/ratios are considered equivalent if they represent the same amount. To find equivalent fractions/ratios multiply or divide the numerator and denominator by the same nonzero number.
17. A fraction/ratio is in simplest form when its numerator and denominator cannot be divided by anything except 1. (GCF = 1)To simplify a fraction/ratio divided both the numerator and denominator by their GCF.
