4. During the research and planning process we used a range of different websites in
order to present our work on the blog. By taking a look at the mark scheme for the blog
it specifically mentions that the student must use a variety of ways to present their
work, therefore by taking this into consideration I decided to use the different tools and
websites available to me. Prezi was a great away to present work in a professional way,
for example I used Prezi to show the research I did for genre theories. In addition to
this, I also used Prezi to present research I did for symbol and motifs in films, I also
used Prezi for presenting the research I did for Crime genre.
5. The second presentation website that I used for presenting my work on the blog was
Emaze. Emaze was another great way of presenting a lot of my work as it allowed me
to embed videos into Emaze which was necessary for the trailer analysis Emaze’s that I
made for the research and planning process. Furthermore, I was able to insert photos
into Emaze which was also another important feature that I utilized on Emaze. I also
used Emaze as a way to present screenshots that I included on the blog, for example I
did blogs which focused on the different bits of progress we made during a particular
month, I used Emaze as a way to create one slide in which I write down all of the points
that I was going to mention in-depth on the blog.
6. Edublogs was one of the main websites that I used during the research and planning
process for my A2 Media project. Edublogs was where I documented the research and
planning process that we Crossroad Films went through for the pre-production of our
trailer ‘Crook’. I used my blog to my advantage, for example I embedded videos from
Youtube and also added a variety of documents which I uploaded from Slideshare. The
blog was also a place where I shared my thoughts on different topics to do with the
world of media and whenever we (Crossroad Films) changed something about our
trailer I immediately updated the blog to keep the examiner informed about what we
were doing during the research and planning.
7. The next website that I used during the research and planning process was Survey
Monkey. We used Survey Monkey to ask 8 questions to 10 different people. We did this
because we needed to conduct some sort of Audience Research during the research and
planning process and used this Survey Monkey to enhance our work and listen to the
audiences thoughts on the work we came up with. Furthermore, Survey Monkey was
an efficient way to get audience feedback since we were able to spread it across
numerous people using social media.
8. The next presentation tool that I used for presenting my work during research and
planning process was Goconqr. Gonconqr allowed me to mix my work up and give me
another way of presenting my work and therefore allowed me to show the examiner
how much care I took when creating my work. I used Goconqr’s Mindmap tool which I
used when researching different locations that are used commonly in Crime films.
Furthermore, I also used Goconqr’s slide sets tool which allowed me to present the
research I did on Plot Synopsis’.
9. The first piece of physical technology that we used for the research and planning
process was a digital camera. We had to use a camera several times for when it came to
filming for our trailer for Crook. Furthermore, the camera was used in different ways to
give us a variety of different shots during our trailer, for example we used Long Shots
and Close Up shots during the filming process for Crook, therefore we had to adjust
how close the camera is zoomed in for a particular shot. We also had to use a tripod
with the camera, the tripod helped us keep the camera steady when taking shots for the
trailer.
10. The next physical piece of technology that we used was a SD Card. The SD Card
contained all of the rushes that were taken from the shoots that we did for the trailer of
Crook. The SD Card was inserted into the camera when filming and after filming we
took it out and then inserted it into a PC so we could transfer the files from the SD Card
to a PC and then upload the SD Card to Dropbox which is how we shared the files
between me and Brandon. The SD Card was arguably the most important piece of
technology as it allowed us to keep our files safe from any damage and if there were
any damage caused we had them backed up on Dropbox and on not one but two PC’s.
11. Youtube was one of the reoccurring websites that we used during the research and
planning process. We had our own personal Youtube channel called Crossroad Films,
this is where we uploaded the Animatic, the Pitch Presenation and the different
versions that we worked on for the Crook trailer. Youtube was the website where we
decided to host our own production company videos. Youtube was efficient for us
because we were easily able to upload anything we desired to, furthermore we were
able to spread our Youtube channel across several different social media networking
sites in order to gain more exposure for our production company.
12. During the research and planning process (as well as the post-production editing stage
for the trailer of Crook) we used both PC’s and Macs in order to do work we were
tasked with in order to improve our work. We used these computers for a range of
different things, for example we used Google and other search engines in order to do
some research on our genre as well as do research on trailers in order to improve our
work. Furthermore, we also used these computers in order to use several websites such
as Youtube and Edublogs which were both important websites that we needed to use
for the research and planning process. We also used the computers to conduct audience
research for our A2 Media project.
13. We also used several different mobile devices during the research and planning process
for the trailer of Crook. I personally used my Samsung phone in order to make notes
that I could refer to later on once I went home to blog, I also used my phone to take
photos of work we did in lesson to use on the blog. Finally, we also used our mobile
phones to take several photos during the filming process and then used these photos
when reviewing the shoots we did for the trailer.
15. During the editing of the trailer process we used Sony Vegas as the main editing software for
the editing of Crook. When editing Crook we did a range of things, for example we changed
filters and also edited the lighting in some shots that we used for the trailer. Furthermore, we
also had to import the rushes we had chose from all of the shots that we used for, once we
imported the shots we chose we had to edit them to enhance the quality of the shots. We also
used Sony Vegas to insert several titles into the trailer, for example we added the title that
read ‘Crook’ towards the end of the trailer to help make the trailer look more professional.
These weren’t the only things we did to the trailer, we also included transitions to make our
trailer run smoother, on the other hand we also used the logo of our production company in
our trailer, we did this because we wanted to establish the film Crook with our company.
17. In order to create the poster and magazine front cover for Crook we used
Photoshop as our main editing software. We used Photoshop in order to create a
professional looking poster and front cover for a magazine. For example, for
both of the front cover and the poster we had to use fonts which we found using
123 fonts and DaFont. We used the same font for the title ‘Crook’ and also tried
to use the same colours on both of these media products to help establish our
brand with the audience. For both of these separate media products we also had
to both resize and crop both of these media products, for example for the poster
we had to resize the overall shape of the poster in Photoshop because the
original shape of the poster did not fit the common shape that a poster has. In
addition to this, we had to make sure that the background we used on both the
front cover and the poster was not overlapping any of the other text/images we
had, therefore we sent the background images to the back.
