3. The
Prophecy
Macbeth and his commander
Banquo, meet with three
witches on they’re way back
from battle. He is said to be
Thane of Glamis, Thane of
Cawdor and the future king.
When two noblemen arrive with
a message that the king would
like to confer the title of Thane
of Cawdor upon him, Macbeth
realizes the verification of the
witches words. Not long after
the message is received,
terrible thoughts of murder
4. Urged to murder
. At the castle, after his arrival, Macbeth
expresses his reluctance to commit
murder but, Lady Macbeth urges him to
murder king Duncan and prevails.
5. Act II
The killing of King Duncan, the plot,
waking to cries, the killing of the
grooms, the run-aways, chosen to
be king…
6. The murders
With all his will power, Macbeth kills the sleeping
king Duncan. When he returns to Lady Macbeth,
his hands are soaked in the kings blood. As he
goes to wash up, Lady Macbeth takes the daggers
used to kill the king and places them beside the
sleeping grooms so that the murder will fall on
them. A nobleman named Macduff enters king
Duncan’s room and wakes the castles occupants
with his cries. Macbeth then rushes to the
chamber and kills the grooms pretending to be
carried away by anger.
7. Fears and a
Coronation
The king’s sons, Malcolm
and Donalbain, fearful and
suspicious, decide to run
away. Malcolm to England
and Donalbain to Ireland.
By fleeing they’ve put
suspicion upon themselves.
Soon after, Macbeth is
chosen to be the new king
and thus proceeds to his
coronation.
8. Act III
The banquet, Macbeth’s plans, Fleance
runs, The ghost of Banquo, suspicions fall
on Macbeth…
9. The Banquet (part I)
Macbeth is now king and invites his commander
Banquo to his banquet. Fearing that Banquo recalls
the prophecy made by the witches, he plans to have
him and his son Fleance killed on their way to the
banquet. Fleance escapes and runs away as the
assassins kill his father.
10. Banquet
(Part II)
Macbeth expresses regret for
the absence of his
commander. Soon after,
Banquo’s ghost, seen only by
Macbeth appears. Macbeth
speaks to him amazing
everyone and finally Lady
Macbeth asks the company to
leave. Macbeth is now
suspected by the nobility and
Macduff has gone to England
to join his son Malcolm.
