“I dont have any idea about the professional path I should follow.
How can I know with just 17 years old?
“There’s no other option after High School, except college. I have to
graduate in college to be someone”.
“My parents say I have to graduate in College, but they dont show
strong opinions about what I should study”.
“My parents are worried about my future and financial stability”.
“I’m worried about my happiness and financial stability – I want to
have money ,to have fun, buy the things I want”.
“My school provides some events with several kind of professionals,
where they explain a little bit of their routine. But it’s not enough.”.
“I changed my mind about what I should study in College for, at least,
two times last semester”.
“I’m going to choose what I should study in college before the
application. I still have 1 semester to do that. Now I’m just focusing
in my studies to pass school’s exams this year and in College’s
entrance exams”.
“I’ve to consider if my parents will be able to pay for my college,
before deciding”.

2. Brazilian Medium
Class Graduating
High School
Students
They support each other, trying to find out which
college/profession they should follow.
They dont talk much with their parents about it.
They search on internet about professions, but dont
look which disciplines each Course (college) has.
They do online personality/vocacional tests to help
them to make a decision.

Students
They think it’s a big decision in their lives,
but they are not prepared to take it.
They would like to receive more support of their parents.
They would like to receive proper orientation of their
schools.
They dont have “self-knowledge” enough to take this
decision properly.
They think it’s mandatory to choose a College, they dont
see other option and dont know other reality.
They would like to know the professions better before
making the decision.
4. They feel anxious , but this anxiety is shared.
They feel insecure about making this decision so soon.
They feel lost, with no guidance.
They feel more comfortable when they realize this
“problem” is shared, everybody passes throug this
phase.
They feel responsible for their choice, specially because
their parents are goint to pay for College.
5. Brazilian Medium Class Graduating High School Students need a way to choose their
professions with more consistency, in a manner that allows them to be more secure
about the decisions they make.
There’s a deficit in our educational system here in Brazil. Schools dont seem to
provide a good service in guiding their students (and their parents) in High School’s
last year. Schools seem to be more worried about the College’s entrance exams, than
“students making the right choice”.
