Law Updates:
 Government plans to strip the Reserve Bank of India of its powers
to regulate government bonds, but leave the central bank in charge
of other money market instruments.
 Amid a CBI probe into leakage of secret documents, Finance
Ministry has clamped down on the use of Internet and private
emails by those up to the director level in the Department of
Economic Affairs (DEA), restricting the access only to official mails
and government websites.
 India inks DTAA with Croatia; to be effective from 1st April 2016.
(Notification No. 24/2015 F. No. 501/09/1995-FTD-I dated 17th
March, 2015 issued by Ministry of Finance, Department of
Revenue).
 Sahara Housing fina Corp promoter director Joy Broto Roy, brother
of the group’s jailed Chief Subrata Roy, has resigned from the
directorship of the company.
 SEBI is organizing its International Research Conference - II on
March 20, 2015 in Mumbai. The theme of the Conference is “Real
Estate Investment Trusts (REITs)". ( PR No. 64/2015 dated March
18, 2015)

 As per RBI circular ref RBI/2014-15/504 A.P (DIR Series) Circular
No.85 dated March 18, 2015, RBI has decided to discontinue the
submission of Stat 5 and Stat 8 Returns from March 2015 as banks’
submission of NRD-CSR data in XBRL platform has been stabilised.
 Permanent Account Number (PAN) is now mandatory for private
firms for getting service tax registration besides email and mobile
number.

Kirthiga Reddy, Head and Director Online Operations of Facebook,
India is a beacon of hope to Indian women in tech today.
EARLY LIFE-
Born and brought up in India, Kirthiga Reddy completed her graduation in India and went on to pursue
her MBA from Stanford University as well as an M.S in computer engineering from Syracruse University.
She has worked in several prestigious companies such as Motorola and Silicon Graphics – were she was
the youngest director of engineering and the only woman at that level in her team.
CAREER PROFILE:
She has redefined Facebook's mantra of staying connected. In just three years, Kirthiga Reddy has moved
from being a casual user of this globally popular social networking medium to depending on it to stay
connected with family and friends in another country, to building its operations in India from the ground
up. In July 2010, Reddy, found herself in her "dream come true job" when she joined Facebook as its first
employee in India.
Reddy had earlier been with well-known companies such as Silicon Graphics and Motorola. At Silicon
Graphics, she was the youngest director of engineering and the only woman in this role in her team. Reddy
was the first in her family to get a technical and business degree in the United States. She holds a master's
in business administration from Stanford University and an M.S. in computer engineering from Syracuse
University.
In fact, in her first job in the US, at Silicon Graphics, then a $2-billion company, she surprised her
manager when she did not allow herself to be restricted to her job description, and instead did "what was
needed for the company". At a software project with which she was involved, she went beyond her job and
played a larger role, starting from defining the product and its interfaces. She has big plans at Facebook.
She wants to see the India operations as one of Facebook's global centres of excellence five years from now.

Kirthiga has been featured in Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business 2013, Business
Today’s hottest young executives, Fortune India’s Top 50 Most Powerful Women in India, Impact’s 100
Icons of India Digital Ecosystem among other recognitions. Kirthiga is also the Vice Chairman of Internet
and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). She is passionate about causes for children and about
developing women leaders.
