- In many communities, CAP is the only AF presence known.

- In addition to the members providing on site assistance immediately following incidents, CAP can also provide assistance for months after a disaster and work with FEMA and the American Red Cross. Thousands of remain on standby for deployment from locations nationwide to serve in communities.

- Career exploration is the hallmark of our National Cadet Special Activities! CAP is out there at your AF bases and out with Industry -- hands on.
- Our Aerospace Education Members use CAP AE materials in the classroom, touching nearly 30,000 youth each year.
- School Enrichment Program for middle and high school students has been in existence for about 10 years. SEP for grades 6-12 is the same as regular cadet squadrons except that the meetings are held either during school or as an after-school program. SEP is present in about 70 schools nationwide w/2,500 children taking part. Improved attendance, attitude and achievement are seen as the direct results of this program. This year, CAP began a test SEP program: K - 5 program; in 20 schools nationwide; 300 teachers and 7,000 students are participating. Kickoff held in Boaz, AL Oct 2007 K – 5 will not be “formal” cadet members of CAP this year. Their teachers will be CAP AE Members (teacher members). K – 5 will not progress in rank, nor will they be eligible for orientation flights or wear a uniform. K - 5 will wear a CAP t-shirt and will learn about character education, leadership development, aerospace education and physical fitness through 24 nationally standards-based lessons for each grade level. A community service project will be an additional requirement of K - 5 classes.

- Air Force Association Allocating $22,500 for CAP education grants in ’08 Maxwell AFB chapter is sponsoring local SEP program Evergreen Aviation has partnered with CAP to offer host new National Cadet Activities for 2008 and 2009. AOPA has partnered to provide $10,000 in scholarships for Seniors and Cadets to achieve their private pilots license.
