2. The first question we asked was basic
and allowed us to find out that our
target audience included more
females than males. As there was
less than a 20% difference between
the genders we do not need to adapt
our music video dramatically towards
one gender.
3. From our second question we were able to
establish that the majority of our target
audience is aged 17-21. Thus, telling us we
should create a music video that caters to a
young adult demographic, so it could
references to mainstream pop culture. Another
way we could appeal to our 17-21 year old
audience is by making our video fast-paced and
colourful, as these elements are stereotypically
associated with young people.
4. This question established the hobbies and
interests of our target audience, with listening
to music as the main one. This assured us that
creating a music video will interest our target
audience, thus they are likely to watch the
video. Additionally, the two next most popular
hobby/interest of our target audience is
socialising with friends and watching films or
television. To make our music video relate to
this we will include groups of young people
socialising, so that the video included
relatable scenarios. Also, we could included
references to popular films or television
programs that our target audience will be able
to relate to.
5. We also asked our target audience what
their favourite genre was. The results
showed the most popular genres were
pop, punk and pop-punk. This tells us we
most probably should create a music video
for a pop-punk song, as this includes all of
the most popular genres. Therefore, by
creating music video to a pop-punk song it
will be suitable to and specifically targeting
our demographic and so we have more
chance of engaging our target audience.
6. Another thing we asked our target audience was the
elements they like to see within a music video. Our
survey results told us our target audience like to see
a narrative in a music video the most, followed
matching action to lyrics, followed by locations and
the artist tied. This question allows us to know what
elements to include in out music video, so we are
gonna include a narrative, the artist and various
locations amongst other elements.
7. The last question we asked out target
audience was what theme they would
most like to see within a music video. The
most popular theme was comedy,
followed friendship and love. From this
we will make sure our music video
includes these three themes so that we
are targeting our demographic.
