There are two types of distance learning - synchronous which allows real-time interaction, and asynchronous which allows instruction and response at different times. While distance technologies provide flexibility, disadvantages include lack of immediate feedback, reliance on technology, and limited peer interaction.

 Asynchronous: “…the teacher may deliver the
instruction via video, computer, or other
means, and the students respond at a later
time.”
