What are “distance technologies?”
“Distance technologies” are tools,
devices, and equipment that can be
used to help an educator and
student or individuals
communicate, learn, and interact
with each other from a distance.
Types of distance learning
 There are two types of ways to deliver “distance
learning” while using “distance technologies”.
 Synchronous: “…the teacher and the student
interact with each other in “real time”.”
 Asynchronous: “…the teacher may deliver the
instruction via video, computer, or other
means, and the students respond at a later
time.”

How do people use “distance
technologies”?
People can use “distance
technologies” to further their
education without physically
being in the presence of an
educator.
Advantages of “distance
technologies”
Teachers are able to teach from
anywhere.
Students are able to learn from
anywhere.
You’re able to kind of complete work
around your life and at your own pace.
Disadvantages of “distance
technologies”
Students may not be able to receive
immediate feedback.
If technology fails, the student/teacher
will not be able to meet his/her set
goal.
You’re limited to working with peers.
