3. There are 12 years of compulsory education starting at the age of five. The school year stars in September. The most important days are: New year ’ s Day, Labor Day(first Friday in June) , Independent Day Emancipation Day( first Monday in August), Discovery Day (12 October), Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The slavery: - The slavery started in 1512, because the Spanish arrived at The Bahamas and began to send them to work in the mines and killed them. -In 1834 the slavery was prohibited and blacks were not slaves of the white. -The Bahamas won the independence on the 10th of July in 1973 with a new constitution.

5. The Bahamas have got an area of 13,9 kilometres. The Commonwealth of the Bahamas has got seven hundred islands on the archipelago. The capital of The Bahamas is Nassou. Around 231,500 people. The temperature in the Bahamas in winter is 21ºC and the temperature in summer is 30ºC.
