Graduation Speech Essay example
T.S. Eliot once wrote, "What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to
make a beginning. The end is where we start from." Every landmark in our lives will end but there
is always a beginning to an end. As each new path ends a new one begins. Graduation marks the end
of a path but as it ends a new path begins.
Life is an adventure. We started out by walking on a winding path as we entered the destination of
kindergarten. As our lives ventured on down the winding path, we met new friends and new life
experiences along the way. As the path widens, we see ourselves on a countryroad. We started
elementary school and we constantly gained new knowledge to help us progress in our journey. As
we continued along in our...show more content...
As the paved path merged, we found ourselves no longer walking, but driving in cars on the
highway in high school. Life started to get more challenging and things started to move at a faster
pace. In this part of our lives we got to choose which way we wanted to go, left or right. We found
hardships up the steep hills and we might have stopped at many intersections. However, we
always proceeded with the flow of traffic no matter what obstacle gets in our way, we always
managed to get through it. As our lives traveled on the highway, we saw others take different
roads along our journey, but we always found ourselves choosing to keep with our commitment of
continuing. We all had to make pit stops along the way through homework and projects, but it
fueled us to get stronger and helped us gain knowledge to make it up those steep hills and
intersections. Finally, when graduation comes, the highway ends and merges to a new beginning
as we leave our memories in the past in our rearview mirror. Miles and miles of opportunities
await us. However, each one of us has a different goal or route in life, and each of us will find
different exits along the way to fulfill our dream. Some of us will take the express lanes and
continue our education through college. Some of us might follow the freeway not knowing where
fate will take us. Life isn't always easy on the freeway. Some of us might get stuck in traffic jams.

1.1 Background of the study
A study conducted by Hattie (2002) revealed that thirty percent of the variance in performance of
students could be accounted for by what the teacher knows, does and cares about. He identified
influences on the learner in terms of magnitude and concluded that the teachers' feedback has the
greatest influence on academic performance as compared to other factors. Teachers, in the education
world, are considered as significant other in the life of their students and so, whatever their actions
just like a parent toward the child, they are taken seriously and consequently have a very big impact
in the student's creation of self–fulfilling prophecies which contribute greatly to their academic
self–esteem. Teachers...show more content...
1.5 Theoretical Framework
The study will be guided by the following three theories: Abraham's Hierarchy of Needs theory and
hierarchy of knowledge and understanding, Skinner's motivation theory of learning and Carl Roger's
theory of personality.
1.6 Significance of the study
The findings of this study may be of benefit to the school administrators and teachers to make
alterations or to improve on the overall quality of teaching through, changing ways of giving the
feedback to learners in the classroom, based on their effectiveness and overall effects on the
learners' academic self–esteem. The changes if instituted may cater for the individual needs of the
learners, some who always require reinforcements before they can exert their best in learning.
1.7 Research design
The study will adopt a correlational design because it is appropriate in discovering the relationships
between variables and the degree to which the variables relate. Here, the relationship to be
determined is whether the academic self–esteem of learners could be linked with and the extent to
which it is affected by the teacher's feedback.
1.8 Variables
The different teacher feedback strategies will be used to predict the academic self esteem of the
learners .The independent variable therefore will be the teacher and the dependent will be the
academic self–esteem of the learners.
1.9 Location of the study
The study will be conducted in four public schools of Dadaab refugee camps in

Reflections on a Graduate Program
Reflections Upon a Graduate Program Upon completing a stage in life, such as the completion of
a graduate program, it is productive to reflect upon that experience and ponder the motivation for
that course of action, as well as ponder the utility of that experience. As my graduate program
comes to a conclusion, now is the time for me to discuss the components of the program that have
been of particular value to me, and why such program components have been of value. I
appreciated learning about different teaching methodologies and perspectives regarding
education. I found that learning about constructivism and objectivism quite valuable. I always
knew that there were philosophical concepts that supported specific teaching methods, but I only
had a superficial understanding of such ideas. Learning in greater detail about such topics helped
me understand my own educational experience in a new dimension. It also helped me consider
the value of a variety of perspectives to be used in the classroom. Good teaching for me includes
of variety of methods that are known, used, and balanced as part of the teaching and learning
experiences. I also found value in these topics because it helped me discern what kind of teaching
practice I naturally gravitate towards, as well as help expose my weakness in teaching
methodology. Overall, I think it helped me understand how to be a balanced teaching professional,
and ways to achieve or strive for that balance. There was great value to

High School Graduation Essay
Graduation
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always
something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be
graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and
effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed.
Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like
it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays of
sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly
dragged my limp body out of...show more content...
Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All
the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I
promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and
let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying
to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the
bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the
mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that
we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready,
and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars.
Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started
giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around
at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the
principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in
two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up
and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling

School Psychology Personal Statement
"It takes a village to raise a child." I never quite understood that saying when I was growing up, but
my experiences teaching and working in school settings have showed me how true it really is.
Obtaining a degree in school psychology will allow me to give the support that students, families and
educators need to ensure that every student will thrive.
I have always envisioned myself working with children and their families, but my experiences in
college and beyond are what have shaped my enthusiasm for school psychology. At the University of
Cincinnati I focused my education on families and children. Although my overall GPA falls just
below the mean for your program, as my letters of recommendation indicate, I believe that my
major GPA (3.89) and my experiences outside the classroom, give a better indication of my
preparedness for graduate school. As a teaching assistant for a Childhood and Adolescence
Development course for three semesters, I enjoyed the opportunity to develop a greater
understanding of the crucial part development plays in all aspects of a child's life, as well as the
many factors that shape a child's development.
To learn about families from a new perspective, I had the opportunity to work as a research assistant
in Today's Couples and Families research lab, which aimed to better understand modern couples and

Reflection Paper On Graduate-Level Writing
As with many returning college students entering this course, I was somewhat apprehensive about
proficient writing skills at the graduate level. I had several concerns and wondered, not only about
my writing skills, but of the twenty plus years of unused study habits. At the same time, having
never written a 'graduate' level paper, brought about a certain level of anxiety just from the phrase
'graduate level'. Being skeptical about how my writing would fare against other students and the
school's writing expectations, I leaned on the side of precaution when approaching the first
assignment. When COM/600 introduced me to the APA, American Psychological Association, style
of writing, I slowly became more comfortable. The training received prepared me for future studies
on how to appropriately research information, what techniques to use in developing effective writing
and communication, and demonstrated ethical psychological considerations in daily life. These
unique tools provided me with a well–developed skill set sufficient enough to write graduate level
papers.
Feedback Summary While developing writing techniques, there were three individual writing
assignments the professor requested for review from week one, two, and four. In week one, the first
assignment was on Graduate–Level Writing. The professor's grading comments reflected a clear
topic and direction, great transition from topic to topic, and overall crisp and clear writing
throughout the assignment. The

Why I Want To Pursue A Graduate Degree
My goals is my number one priority. Being a senior, so many things come to your mind and what
you would like to do in life. I promised myself that I will accomplish every one of my goals and
my mind set is highly dedicated to do it. My future plans are attending Alabama A&M to get my
Bachelor degree and I'm considering getting an even higher education to get my Graduate Degree.
Things in life are not cheap anymore, so I will work hard in life to get what I want. I will
graduate with my Graduate Degree, and pursue my dream in being a psychiatrist. If I do not
pursue my dream in being a psychiatrist, my second choice is to be a judge. Of course you would
have to be a lawyer first, but that is my second choice. My third choice is to be a women doctor.

Why Attend Graduate School
Thank you for taking the time to read my statement of purpose.
My goal in preparing to attend graduate school is to obtain a career in research and teach as an
English professor with applied studies in cognitive psychology. While I do plan on working in an
academic setting, I am interested in researching how psychology and literature complement one
another and how combining the two may improve academic performance in students from
underrepresented communities. I developed an interest in cognitive function as a teenager but never
thought to pursue it at the graduate level until I began studying at the John Jay College of Criminal
Justice. It was here that I began majoring in English and started to really immerse myself in the
academic community.

English is my second language, and that is why, I tend to think in Spanish and then translate into
English. Some research shows that bilingualism may actually help the brain to process language
differently, and that late learners may not think like native speakers, but they are still capable of
mastery of a new set of language skills (Kovelman, Baker & Petitto, 2008). I have always
considered English to be a challenging language for foreigners to learn. However, I hope to find
that many of the online resources like CWE, APA format, River point, WritePoint and the library at
University of Phoenix will help me to develop and improve these weak areas. I also expect to be
able to ask students and nursing co–workers to provide feedback of my work. Additionally, I
anticipate that my confidence and abilities with language skills will improve with each written
assignment and oral presentation. As my comfort level with my English skills increases I expect
to be able achieve the concept explain by Benner in her work describing nurses' proficiency levels
from novice to expert (Benner, 1984). Currently I would describe my written English proficiency
as a novice beginner. A third challenge I will be facing is time management. One of my most
important roles in life is being a mother and a wife. Even though my family is very supportive of
my decision to go back to school, I recognize that I must set aside time to share with them. I have

Success at the Graduate Level Essay
Success at the Graduate Level COM 505 June 11, 2012 Preparing for Success at the Graduate

in completing a graduate program? The reasons can be many such as better job opportunities,
higher income, or perhaps just for the prestige of earning a graduate degree. Other reasons could

Make a plan for working on each assignment and avoid procrastination. Procrastination is one of
the biggest challenges for any student. It is easy to put off an assignment until the last minute only
to turn in work that is not to the best of your ability because you were rushed. It is best to plan out
certain times throughout the day that can be used to get required reading or research complete.
You can get more accomplished throughout the week if you take it a little at a time. Consistency
will yield more results than trying to get all of an assignment complete at the last minute. The
student can also prepare all the materials needed for an assignment in advance. It is much easier to
complete an assignment if you have all the required resources readily available ahead of time. There
is an enormous difference between undergraduate classes and classes taken in a graduate degree
plan. Student's that are in an undergraduate degree plan are expected to summarize material that is
researched or given to them for a paper. According to Lavelle and Bushrow (2007), "the increased
writing demands of courses at the graduate level, including greater emphasis on depth and breadth,
demand for genre competence, and often expectation for publication, merely reporting or
"summarizing" are insufficient" (Lavelle & Bushrow, 2007). The graduate student must expand
their writing skills

Pursuing A Graduate Degree Essay
Pursuing a graduate degree, specifically a PhD, is a decision that was made only in the last few
years. This new direction was largely based on my recent exposure to higher education in general,
but to minority women in higher education specifically. To help explain how this exposure helped
to propel my desire to pursue a graduate degree at this point in my life, I feel it's important to
provide you with some background information and context of my upbringing. My parents are
immigrated from Mexico shortly after getting married. Although my father had been coming to
the United States since he was a teen to work, he did this seasonally and would return to Mexico
when the agricultural season ended. After my parents married they settled in a small agricultural
town in a coastal town of California. It is in this small town that my parents raised their 6 children.
Holding on to their traditional values we were raised in a traditional manner; from a young age the
girls were expected to help out in the house and contribute by doing housework while the boys were
expected to help my father which included helping out in the fields. It was in this way that my
parents tried to instill many of the same values which they had acquired in their youth growing up in
Mexico. Although they wanted us to do well in school it wasn't something that was strongly
emphasized. Perhaps it was due to their limited exposure to education and the lack of educational
opportunities my parent's had growing up.

Attending graduate school is incredibly important to my career goals for several reasons. I hope to
attend Appalachian State University to complete my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
in order to assist people who have experienced trauma relating to sexual assault, abuse, domestic

future counselor is that it will teach me the skills to provide competent clinical services to my
clients. As a future counselor, it is my ethical and moral responsibility to provide services that help
clients and do not harm them. Without continuing my education, I would simply be unable to do
this. Attending a graduate program will allow me to participate in classes, practicums, and
internships that will teach me a wide range of essential skills. Classes offered through the Clinical
Mental Health Counseling program, such as Multicultural Counseling, Counseling Theory and

The Between Undergrad And Grad Essay
To someone who hasn't been through grad school, there isn't much difference between the
undergrad and grad coursework. Yet this preconceived notion could be further from the truth.
Without a doubt, the level of study for a graduate program is more rigorous and demanding than
study involved at the undergrad level. I've discovered only others who are in or have completed
grad school truly understand what it is like. Further insights on how the two levels of study differ
can be found below. Reading. First, while undergrad courses require reading, it barely compares to
the amount required at the graduate level. Grad school entails a tremendous amount of reading,
ranging anywhere from 50–100 pages per week. And if you are taking multiple courses, be ready to
multiply that figure. The only way to accomplish it all is to realize it is near impossible to read
all the material cover to cover. Expectation that you don't read it all, but rather skim the articles
and pull out main points. As a result I have learned a different way to approach reading articles
and develop an understanding of the material. Reflection. Along with the extensive reading comes
a high level of reflection of the material covered. Personally, I believe this is the paramount
difference between undergrad and grad study. In undergrad you learn what you already know and
for lack of a better word regurgitate the right answer on a test and move on. In contrast, in grad
school you are searching for answers that are

in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the internship I still stayed at the center
because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the

Graduate School Essay Examples

  • 1. Graduation Speech Essay example T.S. Eliot once wrote, "What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from." Every landmark in our lives will end but there is always a beginning to an end. As each new path ends a new one begins. Graduation marks the end of a path but as it ends a new path begins. Life is an adventure. We started out by walking on a winding path as we entered the destination of kindergarten. As our lives ventured on down the winding path, we met new friends and new life experiences along the way. As the path widens, we see ourselves on a countryroad. We started elementary school and we constantly gained new knowledge to help us progress in our journey. As we continued along in our...show more content... As the paved path merged, we found ourselves no longer walking, but driving in cars on the highway in high school. Life started to get more challenging and things started to move at a faster pace. In this part of our lives we got to choose which way we wanted to go, left or right. We found hardships up the steep hills and we might have stopped at many intersections. However, we always proceeded with the flow of traffic no matter what obstacle gets in our way, we always managed to get through it. As our lives traveled on the highway, we saw others take different roads along our journey, but we always found ourselves choosing to keep with our commitment of continuing. We all had to make pit stops along the way through homework and projects, but it fueled us to get stronger and helped us gain knowledge to make it up those steep hills and intersections. Finally, when graduation comes, the highway ends and merges to a new beginning as we leave our memories in the past in our rearview mirror. Miles and miles of opportunities await us. However, each one of us has a different goal or route in life, and each of us will find different exits along the way to fulfill our dream. Some of us will take the express lanes and continue our education through college. Some of us might follow the freeway not knowing where fate will take us. Life isn't always easy on the freeway. Some of us might get stuck in traffic jams. Some Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Sample Concept Paper for Masters Degree 1.1 Background of the study A study conducted by Hattie (2002) revealed that thirty percent of the variance in performance of students could be accounted for by what the teacher knows, does and cares about. He identified influences on the learner in terms of magnitude and concluded that the teachers' feedback has the greatest influence on academic performance as compared to other factors. Teachers, in the education world, are considered as significant other in the life of their students and so, whatever their actions just like a parent toward the child, they are taken seriously and consequently have a very big impact in the student's creation of self–fulfilling prophecies which contribute greatly to their academic self–esteem. Teachers...show more content... 1.5 Theoretical Framework The study will be guided by the following three theories: Abraham's Hierarchy of Needs theory and hierarchy of knowledge and understanding, Skinner's motivation theory of learning and Carl Roger's theory of personality. 1.6 Significance of the study The findings of this study may be of benefit to the school administrators and teachers to make alterations or to improve on the overall quality of teaching through, changing ways of giving the feedback to learners in the classroom, based on their effectiveness and overall effects on the learners' academic self–esteem. The changes if instituted may cater for the individual needs of the learners, some who always require reinforcements before they can exert their best in learning. 1.7 Research design The study will adopt a correlational design because it is appropriate in discovering the relationships between variables and the degree to which the variables relate. Here, the relationship to be determined is whether the academic self–esteem of learners could be linked with and the extent to which it is affected by the teacher's feedback. 1.8 Variables The different teacher feedback strategies will be used to predict the academic self esteem of the learners .The independent variable therefore will be the teacher and the dependent will be the academic self–esteem of the learners. 1.9 Location of the study The study will be conducted in four public schools of Dadaab refugee camps in Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 4. Reflections on a Graduate Program Reflections Upon a Graduate Program Upon completing a stage in life, such as the completion of a graduate program, it is productive to reflect upon that experience and ponder the motivation for that course of action, as well as ponder the utility of that experience. As my graduate program comes to a conclusion, now is the time for me to discuss the components of the program that have been of particular value to me, and why such program components have been of value. I appreciated learning about different teaching methodologies and perspectives regarding education. I found that learning about constructivism and objectivism quite valuable. I always knew that there were philosophical concepts that supported specific teaching methods, but I only had a superficial understanding of such ideas. Learning in greater detail about such topics helped me understand my own educational experience in a new dimension. It also helped me consider the value of a variety of perspectives to be used in the classroom. Good teaching for me includes of variety of methods that are known, used, and balanced as part of the teaching and learning experiences. I also found value in these topics because it helped me discern what kind of teaching practice I naturally gravitate towards, as well as help expose my weakness in teaching methodology. Overall, I think it helped me understand how to be a balanced teaching professional, and ways to achieve or strive for that balance. There was great value to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. School Psychology Personal Statement "It takes a village to raise a child." I never quite understood that saying when I was growing up, but my experiences teaching and working in school settings have showed me how true it really is. Obtaining a degree in school psychology will allow me to give the support that students, families and educators need to ensure that every student will thrive. I have always envisioned myself working with children and their families, but my experiences in college and beyond are what have shaped my enthusiasm for school psychology. At the University of Cincinnati I focused my education on families and children. Although my overall GPA falls just below the mean for your program, as my letters of recommendation indicate, I believe that my major GPA (3.89) and my experiences outside the classroom, give a better indication of my preparedness for graduate school. As a teaching assistant for a Childhood and Adolescence Development course for three semesters, I enjoyed the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the crucial part development plays in all aspects of a child's life, as well as the many factors that shape a child's development. • 7. Reflection Paper On Graduate-Level Writing As with many returning college students entering this course, I was somewhat apprehensive about proficient writing skills at the graduate level. I had several concerns and wondered, not only about my writing skills, but of the twenty plus years of unused study habits. At the same time, having never written a 'graduate' level paper, brought about a certain level of anxiety just from the phrase 'graduate level'. Being skeptical about how my writing would fare against other students and the school's writing expectations, I leaned on the side of precaution when approaching the first assignment. When COM/600 introduced me to the APA, American Psychological Association, style of writing, I slowly became more comfortable. The training received prepared me for future studies on how to appropriately research information, what techniques to use in developing effective writing and communication, and demonstrated ethical psychological considerations in daily life. These unique tools provided me with a well–developed skill set sufficient enough to write graduate level papers. Feedback Summary While developing writing techniques, there were three individual writing assignments the professor requested for review from week one, two, and four. In week one, the first assignment was on Graduate–Level Writing. The professor's grading comments reflected a clear topic and direction, great transition from topic to topic, and overall crisp and clear writing throughout the assignment. My goal in preparing to attend graduate school is to obtain a career in research and teach as an English professor with applied studies in cognitive psychology. While I do plan on working in an academic setting, I am interested in researching how psychology and literature complement one another and how combining the two may improve academic performance in students from underrepresented communities. I developed an interest in cognitive function as a teenager but never thought to pursue it at the graduate level until I began studying at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. It was here that I began majoring in English and started to really immerse myself in the academic community. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 12. Graduate Study Challenges and Strategies for Success In my current role as a nurse educator I feel the desire to pursue my dream of obtaining a master's degree, specializing in nursing education. It has been 27 years since I have sat in the student chair in a classroom; therefore, I anticipate a number of challenges and barriers to overcome. In this paper I will present and describe three challenges that I expect to be faced with over the next two years. I will also discuss the strategies I plan to use to address these challenges. Challenges and Strategies One of the biggest challenges I am confronting is managing and balancing my school with my work, family, and church responsibilities. Although multiple roles create stress in ...show more content... English is my second language, and that is why, I tend to think in Spanish and then translate into English. Some research shows that bilingualism may actually help the brain to process language differently, and that late learners may not think like native speakers, but they are still capable of mastery of a new set of language skills (Kovelman, Baker & Petitto, 2008). I have always considered English to be a challenging language for foreigners to learn. However, I hope to find that many of the online resources like CWE, APA format, River point, WritePoint and the library at University of Phoenix will help me to develop and improve these weak areas. I also expect to be able to ask students and nursing co–workers to provide feedback of my work. Additionally, I anticipate that my confidence and abilities with language skills will improve with each written assignment and oral presentation. As my comfort level with my English skills increases I expect to be able achieve the concept explain by Benner in her work describing nurses' proficiency levels from novice to expert (Benner, 1984). Currently I would describe my written English proficiency as a novice beginner. A third challenge I will be facing is time management. • 13. Success at the Graduate Level Essay Success at the Graduate Level COM 505 June 11, 2012 Preparing for Success at the Graduate Level Preparing for academic success at the graduate level can be a daunting task. First, one must realize the reason they are in a graduate program to begin with. What goals do you hope to achieve in completing a graduate program? The reasons can be many such as better job opportunities, higher income, or perhaps just for the prestige of earning a graduate degree. Other reasons could include setting a good example for that of your children or gaining the respect of family and friends. Regardless of the reason, once the decision is made to start a graduate program there must be a goal established in order to achieve success. Setting goals...show more content... Make a plan for working on each assignment and avoid procrastination. Procrastination is one of the biggest challenges for any student. It is easy to put off an assignment until the last minute only to turn in work that is not to the best of your ability because you were rushed. It is best to plan out certain times throughout the day that can be used to get required reading or research complete. You can get more accomplished throughout the week if you take it a little at a time. Consistency will yield more results than trying to get all of an assignment complete at the last minute. The student can also prepare all the materials needed for an assignment in advance. It is much easier to complete an assignment if you have all the required resources readily available ahead of time. There is an enormous difference between undergraduate classes and classes taken in a graduate degree plan. Student's that are in an undergraduate degree plan are expected to summarize material that is researched or given to them for a paper. According to Lavelle and Bushrow (2007), "the increased writing demands of courses at the graduate level, including greater emphasis on depth and breadth, demand for genre competence, and often expectation for publication, merely reporting or "summarizing" are insufficient" (Lavelle & Bushrow, 2007). The graduate student must expand their writing skills Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Pursuing A Graduate Degree Essay Pursuing a graduate degree, specifically a PhD, is a decision that was made only in the last few years. This new direction was largely based on my recent exposure to higher education in general, but to minority women in higher education specifically. To help explain how this exposure helped to propel my desire to pursue a graduate degree at this point in my life, I feel it's important to provide you with some background information and context of my upbringing. My parents are immigrated from Mexico shortly after getting married. Although my father had been coming to the United States since he was a teen to work, he did this seasonally and would return to Mexico when the agricultural season ended. After my parents married they settled in a small agricultural town in a coastal town of California. It is in this small town that my parents raised their 6 children. Holding on to their traditional values we were raised in a traditional manner; from a young age the girls were expected to help out in the house and contribute by doing housework while the boys were expected to help my father which included helping out in the fields. It was in this way that my parents tried to instill many of the same values which they had acquired in their youth growing up in Mexico. Although they wanted us to do well in school it wasn't something that was strongly emphasized. Perhaps it was due to their limited exposure to education and the lack of educational opportunities my parent's had growing up. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It provoked me to take Electronics and Communications Engineering branch for my under graduate. In the second and third year of my under graduate I develop specific interest in the field of Analog communications, Digital communications, Digital Signal processing, Telecom switching systems and networks. In my fourth year, optical communications allured me. To increase my technical knowledge, I regularly attend the national level seminars held by IEEE, and also participated in one seminar, which was held in our college. The seminar was on the dependence of wireless communications on DSP and it made a great impact on me. It was about the enhancement of a signal by manipulating the corresponding parameters such that the unwanted signals are eliminated. From this stemmed my desire to pursue MS in electrical engineering with Communications as my major. To keep pace with fast growing technology, I visited National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), Hyderabad as a part of industrial visit. There I had the opportunity to see how the earth station receives digital data from the satellite and how the data is processed and stored. I also visited Elico, Hyderabad, an industry that deals with production of basic circuit elements such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, transformers, etc. I could examine some of the automated machines that are used in production and also examined various techniques of testing. An industrial visit to Tibcon Capacitors, Hyderabad made me aware of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Graduate School Career Goals Attending graduate school is incredibly important to my career goals for several reasons. I hope to attend Appalachian State University to complete my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in order to assist people who have experienced trauma relating to sexual assault, abuse, domestic violence, and similar issues. The primary reason that graduate school is essential to my success as a future counselor is that it will teach me the skills to provide competent clinical services to my clients. As a future counselor, it is my ethical and moral responsibility to provide services that help clients and do not harm them. Without continuing my education, I would simply be unable to do this. Attending a graduate program will allow me to participate in classes, practicums, and internships that will teach me a wide range of essential skills. Classes offered through the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, such as Multicultural Counseling, Counseling Theory and Techniques, and Helping Relationships will all be vital in helping me learn to provide competent, empirically–backed therapeutic services. Additionally, elective courses such as Sexual Abuse Counseling and Women's Issues in Counseling are especially relevant to my goal to become a...show more content... For instance, while completing my undergraduate degree, I became interested in issues such as social perceptions of sexual assault and how sexual assault affects romantic relationships for survivors. I believe that studying these areas as part of my graduate education would help me become a more effective clinician because I would gain a broader understanding of the complex social and interpersonal factors that trauma survivors must Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. The Between Undergrad And Grad Essay To someone who hasn't been through grad school, there isn't much difference between the undergrad and grad coursework. Yet this preconceived notion could be further from the truth. Without a doubt, the level of study for a graduate program is more rigorous and demanding than study involved at the undergrad level. I've discovered only others who are in or have completed grad school truly understand what it is like. Further insights on how the two levels of study differ can be found below. Reading. First, while undergrad courses require reading, it barely compares to the amount required at the graduate level. Grad school entails a tremendous amount of reading, ranging anywhere from 50–100 pages per week. And if you are taking multiple courses, be ready to multiply that figure. The only way to accomplish it all is to realize it is near impossible to read all the material cover to cover. Expectation that you don't read it all, but rather skim the articles and pull out main points. As a result I have learned a different way to approach reading articles and develop an understanding of the material. Reflection. Along with the extensive reading comes a high level of reflection of the material covered. Personally, I believe this is the paramount difference between undergrad and grad study. In undergrad you learn what you already know and for lack of a better word regurgitate the right answer on a test and move on. In contrast, in grad school you are searching for answers that are Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 20. Why I Want to Attend Graduate School Essay I would like to Attend Capella University's Masters Program in School Counseling. I have always known that I wanted to work with children ever since I can remember. Working with children is something that I have always enjoyed doing even if it was tutoring, or just being around them. The reason I want to receive my Master's Degree in School Counseling is to become a Guidance Counselor. Being a guidance counselor you can make a difference in a child's life, whether it's talking to them about their grades, peer pressure, or any of the things that children of all ages go through in school and in life. When some of the kids came there they were struggling with certain subjects such as reading and math. When they received their first report card the grades were kind of low, but after a while there grades slowly progressed and they were so excited to show me there grades it made me so happy. It made me feel good to know that I made a difference in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the internship I still stayed at the center because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the director felt I was such a huge help to the students that they decided to hire me full time. Due to lack of funding the center closed down and the students no longer had a place to go. I still keep in contact with some of the parents and students just to see how they are doing and they all say the same thing, I helped them stay on the right path.
