PASSIVE VOICE IN PRESENT PERFECT
The present perfect passive is useful when describing something that was done in the
past without a lot of information about who did it, when, how, why, etc.
STRUCTURE
Affirmative Form Object + have / has + been + verb3 (past participle)
Question Form Have / has + object + been + verb3 (past participle)
Present Perfect Passive Voice answers two questions:
 What has been done?
Example: A house has been built.
 What has been being done?
Example: A house has been being built.
Examples:
Active: Thomas has written many books.
Passive: Many books have been written by Thomas.
Negative: Many books have not been written by Thomas
Active: Have the police caught the man?
Passive: Has the man been caught by the police?
EXERCISES
 Kerrie has paid the bill.
The bill has been paid by Kerrie.
 I have eaten a hamburger.
A hamburger has been eaten by me.
 We have cycled five miles.
Five miles have been cycled by us.
 I have opened the present.
The present has been opened.
 They have not read the book.
The book has not been read.
 You have not sent the parcel.
The parcel has not been sent.
 We have not agreed to this issue.
This issue has not been agreed by us.
 They have not caught the thieves.
The thieves have not caught by them.
 Has she phoned him?
Has he been phoned by her?
 Have they noticed us?
Have we been noticed by them?
 They have built robots.
Robots have been built by them.
 They have eatenbreakfast.
Breakfast has been eaten by them.
 She has read a lot of books.
