1. Categorical Desires
 Categorical Desires-desires that give us
reasons to continue to live
 Not conditional
 Most people have them, and are motivated to
keep on living by additional such desires
 Desire to live is not a categorical desire

2. Why EM is Bored
 For EM to have a reason to go on living, she
must have at least one categorical desire
 Because she has lived so long, she has had
and satisfied all possible categorical desires
 Given her character, there is a finite set of
categorical desires that she can have, without
ceasing to be herself
