I gave this very short presentation to the Mozilla Design for eLearning Challenge Comittee at Austin, Texas. It describes the basic features of the Clozefox Firefox extension and its relation to learning.

6. ClozeFox – Definition A cloze test (also cloze deletion test) is an exercise consisting of a portion of text with certain words removed ( cloze text), where the participant is asked to replace the missing words.

7. ClozeFox – Motivation Cloze tests require the ability to understand context and vocabulary in order to identify the correct words or type of words that belong in the deleted passages of a text. This exercise is commonly administered for the assessment of native and second language learning and instruction .

8. ClozeFox - Audience Who is going to use this? Any language learner and teacher worldwide (myself included, I already use it for practicing Dutch prepositions!)

10. The development of dedicated content for language courseware is extremely labor-intensive , as our experience has shown.

11. The possibility of selecting authentic material on the fly for generating tailor-made exercises responds to a huge demand.

14. Better score evaluation and adaptive testing, e.g. adjusting the difficulty of test according to previous performance.
