2. Vagus Nerve
• The vagus nerve originates from brain and
supplies the visceral organs of the body
• The Dorsal and ventral vagus trunk pass
through the esophageal opening of the
diagram and continues as abdominal vagus
nerve
• Upon reaching the abdominal cavity it takes
part in the formation of neural plexus ,
responsible for the innervations of visceral
nerves
3. CONT…
• Ventral vagal verve forms the celiac plexus and the
nerves originating from the celiac plexus which
supplies nerves to the stomach, spleen, liver ,gall
bladder and pancreas.
• Then it the vagal nerve forms the cranial mesenteric
plexus and the nerves originating from the cranial
mesenteric plexus supplies to the organs small
intestine and large intestine
• The dorsal vagal nerve trunk form the
celiacomesentric nerve plexus
4. Renal and Ovarian Plexus
• The kidney receives nerve supply from renal
plexus.
• The renal plexus is formed by filaments from
the celiac plexus, the aorticorenal ganglion,
and the aortic plexus.
• The ovarian plexus arises from the renal
plexus, and is distributed to the ovary, and
fundus of the uterus
• Ovarian hypo gastric branch originates from
the ovary and supplies the ovary and uterus

6. Lumber Nerves
• The iliohypogastric nerve: is the primary ventral
branch of 1st lumber nerve and it supplies to the
inguinal region
• The ilioinguinal nerve: is the branch of 2nd spinal
lumber nerve
• Genitofrmoral nerve: arrases from 3rd and 4th
lumber branches and it sends branches to the inguinal
mammary glands and in male it innervates the
prepuce and scrotum
7.
8. Lumbosacral Plexus
• The lumbosacral plexus is formed by the union
of:
1. Lumber plexus
2. Sacral plexus
It forms the following nerves:
• Cranial gluteal nerve
• Caudal gluteal nerve
• Pudendal nerve
• Rectal nerve
10. Pudendal Nerve
• Pudenal nerve arises mainly from ventral branch of
the 3rd sacral spine and its proximal part forms the
pelvic plexus
• The pelvic plexus are joined by sympathetic fibers
from the hypo gastric and sacral splanchnic nerves
and supply the pelvic viscera.
• Rectal nerves are the caudal branches of sacral
plexus and they innervate caudal rectum and
external anal sphincter.
