1. SHARED TREASURE ON ETWINNING
RIMINI
Our class is taking part in an etwinning project focused on the
conservation of our cultural heritage, also in connection with our
ASL’s path, so we’re really glad to present our hometown to our
European partners.
Rimini is an attractive seaside town situated in the North East of
Italy and it is well-known for its marvellous beaches, but also for
its rich historical centre.
We hope to see you soon!

2. In Rimini you can find lots of landmarks which date back to Roman
times, for example, the majestic Augustus’ Arch, constructed in 27 A.D.,
or Tiberius’ Bridge, finished in 20 A.D. You can also visit the impressive
House of the Surgeon, built in the 2nd century A.D. and the Civic Muse-
um, where numerous unique artefacts are on display.
The Tempio Malatestiano is the unfinished cathedral church of Rimini. It
takes its popular name from Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, who assigned
its reconstruction to the famous Renaissance theorist and architect Leon
Battista Alberti and Piero della Francesca around 1450. For this reason it
has emerged as an emblem of the Renaissance.
To Giotto is attribuited the crucifix now housed in the second chapel on the
right.
One of the most magnifi-
cent and fascinating build-
ings of Medieval Rimini is
Arengo Palace, which is
located in Cavour Square,
in the heart of the city. The
Podestà Palace, also in Ca-
vour Square, built around
1330, was the residence of
the Lords of the town.
Sant’Agostino, built in the
Romanesque-Gothic style,
is a Roman Catholic church
situated in Rimini and it is
one of the oldest existing
churches.
Another important
landmark is the castle
of Sigismondo, used
as the Malatestas’ resi-
dence, which was de-
signed by many archi-
tects, including Bru-
nelleschi.
Rimini has an enormous histori-
cal heritage, but there are also
some modern structures and
they’re being upgraded these
days. In fact, along the dynamic
promenade there’s work in pro-
gress and also Tiberius’ Bridge
is being restored.
The Grand Hotel, a 5 star-hotel,
is the symbol of elegance, clas-
sic style and tourism in Rimini.
One of the newest buildings is
the Palacongressi, a real master-
piece of modern architecture.
