3. Opportunity - Moved from content to
content + creativity
“The most important factor to the
design of the Hunt Library at NCSU is
the new relationship between the
library and the faculty member.” –
Michael Young, Computer Science, NC

students with library spaces –
chain of engagement and
creativity
Incubate emerging
technologies
Enhanced hands-on learning

The transformation of library spaces and associated technologies provides significant opportunities to fundamentally engage and foster creative models of teaching and learning. Through renovations of our traditional main library, D.H. Hill, and opening of the new James B. Hunt Jr. Library, the NCSU Libraries has significant experience creating enhanced modes of teaching and student learning. The combination of high-technology spaces, flexible learning environments, and librarian expertise has fostered an experiential learning environment that faculty and students have leveraged to enhance the educational experience at NC State University. This presentation will explore several examples of experiential learning, creative uses of high-technology spaces, and the important combination of ingredients to maximize the experiential learning potential of new library spaces.
