The evolution of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the smart-phone technologies have played a key role in the revolution of our daily life. The location-based social networks (LBSN) have emerged and facilitated the users to share the check-in information and multimedia contents. The Point of Interest (POI) recommendation system uses the check-in information to predict the most potential check-in locations. The different aspects of the check-in information, for instance, the geographical distance, the category, and the temporal popularity of a POI; and the temporal check-in trends, and the social (friendship) information of a user plays a crucial role in an efficient recommendation. In this paper, we propose a fused recommendation model termed MAPS (Multi Aspect Personalized POI Recom- mender System) which will be the rst in our knowledge to fuse the categorical, the temporal, the social and the spatial aspects in a single model. The major contribution of this paper are: (i) it realizes the problem as a graph of location nodes with constraints on the category and the distance as- pects (i.e. the edge between two locations is constrained by a threshold distance and the category of the locations), (ii) it proposes a multi-aspect fused POI recommendation model, and (iii) it extensively evaluates the model with two real-world data sets. The paper was published in ACM RecSys 2016. The paper can be accessed from the url http://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=2959187.

Online discussion is a core feature of numerous social media platforms and has attracted increasing attention from academia for different and relevant reasons, e.g., the resolution of problems in collaborative editing, question answering and e-learning platforms, the response of online communities to news events, online political and civic participation, etc. Discussions on the Internet commonly occur as a exchange of written messages among two or more participants. These conversations are often represented as threads, which are initiated by a user posting a starting message (a post) and then other users replies to either the post or the earlier replies. Given this sequential posting behavior, online discussion threads follow a tree network structure. Different modeling approaches have been proposed to identify the governing mechanisms of the network structure of threads. Statistical models of this type are aimed to reproduce the growth of discussion threads through different features, often related to human behavior. This is why they are usually called generative models: they do not only estimate the statistical significance of their corresponding features but also reproduce the temporal arrival patterns of messages that form a discussion thread. The parameters of these models allow to compare different platforms and communities, they even can help to assess the impact of design choices and user interface changes on the way the discussions unfold. Therefore, we aim to provide the participants with state of the art tools and methods for the analysis, diagnosis, management and improvement of online discussion platform and communities.

Platform companies like Facebook, Google, Twitter and others like them are amongst the driving forces in a profound transformation of our societies. This lecture focuses on the distinct forms of “platform power” that they exercise. It identifies five key aspects of platform power (standards, connections, automated action at scale, secrecy, and fungibility) and show how platform power is profoundly enabling, transformative, and productive, animated by how platforms empower other actors while also making them more dependent. Platform power is deeply relational and not a sovereign power that platform companies possess and can use at their pleasure—but it is a form of power nonetheless, tied to the institutional and strategic interests of platform companies themselves, and driving a structural transformation in our media environment and political life.

Li and Zhang (2014), investigate how technology can be used in a simulation that would aid in determining how effectively smart grid technology can be implemented. The successful implementation of smart grid technology requires the combination of several different frameworks that rely on information communication technology to aid in the regulation of power created and supplied. A simulation of possible communication networks that can be used is made in the study as a way of testing the viability of a smart grid system and its application in reality. The paper successfully identifies various simulation frameworks that can be used to successfully gauge how the system can be created. Sarabando, Cravino, and Soares (2014) investigate the use of computer simulation to analyse how students learn key concepts of physics. Software is used to analyse common learning processes used in teaching physics. Students in the sample population were asked to carry out learning activities ordinarily on the traditional learning environment. The results were then compared to learning activities that were carried out using computer software. The findings showed that the use of computer simulation in learning improved the retention rate, while the language used by teachers also impacted the speed of learning. The findings of the study can be used in the formulation of learning policies, which shows that IT simulation can be successfully used in the formulation of public policy. It can take place in an online (or remote) setting or in a colocated (or face-to-face) setting. With the large scale adoption of sensor use, studies on co-located collaboration (CC) has gained momentum. CC takes place in physical spaces where the group members share each other’s social and epistemic space. This involves subtle multimodal interactions such as gaze, gestures, speech, discourse which are complex in nature. The aim of this PhD is to detect these interactions and then use these insights to build an automated real-time feedback system to facilitate co-located collaboration

Author: M. Sirajul Islam. This paper proposes a framework for an effective e-Participation model that can be suitable under certain socio-economic settings and applicable to any country. Most of such previous initiatives were experimental in nature and lacked in both public awareness and clearly defined expected outcomes.

This is a Walden University course (DPSY 6121 and 8121), Electronic Media Influence Part 1 and 2. It is written in APA format, includes references, and has been graded (A) by Dr. Elizabeth Essel ," Nice job on Part 1 of this assignment, Orlanda. You nicely discussed how the media you chose impacted yourself and how it might impact you as a professional. You also did a very nice job highlighting some important milestones about the media you chose. For part 2, you did a great job discussing how some of theories we learned about in our class this week could explain the behaviors you discussed in part 1. Overall, you included some really good sources to support your paper. Great job! Note from Orlanda Haynes: Higher-education assignments are, usually, submitted to Turnitin, so remember to paraphrase. Let us begin.

This slide will show how to set domains for a field in odoo 17. Domain is mainly used to select records from the models. It is possible to limit the number of records shown in the field by applying domain to a field, i.e. add some conditions for selecting limited records.

Wizards are very useful for creating a good user experience. In all businesses, interactive sessions are most beneficial. To improve the user experience, wizards in Odoo provide an interactive session. For creating wizards, we can use transient models or abstract models. This gives features of a model class except the data storing. Transient and abstract models have permanent database persistence. For them, database tables are made, and the records in such tables are kept until they are specifically erased.
