4. How to solve,
The problem is asking for the ratio of erasers to pencils. That
can also be written as erasers per pencil or erasers : pencil
or erasers/pencil, or erasers per pencil.
The answer choices show the numbers with the : sign in
between, 6:9 is not one of the choices.
The first number, 6, is smaller than the second number, 9.
All the choices that have the first number as being the larger
than the second number are incorrect.
The only choice that has the first number being smaller than
the second number is choice b, but the numbers are not 6
and 9.
Both the 6 and the 9 may be divided by 3.
After dividing both 6 and 9 by three you are left with 2 and 3.
Choice b has 2:3 as the answer, that is the correct choice
