1. What kind of media
institute might
distribute your media
product and why?
2. Big Talk Productions
Big Talk Productions is an independent British film company, they produced movies
such as;
Shaun of the Dead
Hot Fuzz
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Attack the block
The World’s End
I think Big Talk Productions would distribute our film as it is similar to others that they
have done before, although they have some big actors in their films, as they are an
independent British company I think they would enjoy distributing a film that is
made and filmed in Britain, also starring British actors. I also think they would be
interested in our film as it is a comedy, just like the majority of the films they
distributed previously.
3. Happy Madison Productions
Happy Madison Productions was founded by comedy legend Adam Sandler himself, he got the
name from two box office successes that he starred in Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison. Happy
Madison have made films such as;
Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2
Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Paul Blart: Mall cop 2
Jack and Jill
Blended
Happy Madison use a lot of big named institutions to distribute their films;
Columbia Pictures
Paramount Pictures
20th Century Fox
Universal Pictures
I think our film fits the style of Adam Sandler's type of comedy he implements into his films, the childish
yet hilarious humour that not everyone understands and enjoys.
4. Universal Pictures
Universal Pictures are a huge film institution, they are part of the Big Six and
probably wouldn’t have time for a lower budget film like ours and they aren’t
a comedy style institution however one of their highest grossing films Meet the
Fockers shares some similarities with our film. This shows that although they are
not strictly a comedy institution they have produced successful comedy genre
films in the past and might visit some in the future, this also means that fans of
Universal Pictures who like comedy films get to see their favourite film institution
make their favourite film genre. A lot of people look at what company
produced the film and that makes them think about whether or not they
should see it, so with a massive institution like Universal trying a comedy film
which isn’t their strongest point, fans will still want to see it as they know how
good Universal are and they can trust them to make a good film, even if it is
out of their comfort zone.
