The rainbow is 21st century student outcomes and the ripples underneath are 21st century support systems to ensure mastery of these skills. Pg 19
The elements in the rainbow are 21st century student outcomes. They are the skills, knowledge and expertise students should mater to succeed in work and life in the 21st century.
Core subjects- they go beyond what is tested on the PSSA. They include english, world language, arts, economics, history, government, geography just to name a few.
Learning and Innovation- skills that separate students who are prepared for complex life and work environments in the 21st century and those who are not. Creativity and Innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, and communication and collaboration
Information, media, and technology skills- we live in a technological and media-driven environment. Students must be able to exhibit a range of critical thinking to include information literacy, media literacy, and ICT (information, communication, and technology) literacy
Life and career skills- flexible and adapt; self-direction; social and cross-cultural skills; leadership and responsible; productive and accountable.
