investigate why we study Language
and Literature at school and our
personal connection with language
and literature.
9. Inquiry Units
We will start by introducing you to a
number of activities in stations, which
relate to Language and Literature.
You will then choose an aspect
connected to Language and
Literature, which may be inspired by
these stations, that you wish to
investigate further as an Inquiry topic.
You may choose to work individually
or in groups.
10. The Inquiry
Once you have chosen your topic you
will spend a number of lessons
researching your Inquiry.
The findings of your Inquiry research
must be demonstrated through the
creation of a stand alone product
which will be assessed by your peers.
Your teacher will guide you through
the ways you should Engage,
Investigate and Connect with your
Inquiry topic.
11. How do we Express
ourselves?
Think about the ways we choose to
communicate.
In groups create a visual mind map on
the classroom whiteboards to map
these ways.
Indentify which you think are he most
effective and share these with the
other groups,
What does this show us about the
ways we choose to communicate?
12. How would you define
Language and Literature?
What do we mean when we
“express” ourselves
In your groups discuss how you would
define these terms.
What are your experiences of
Language and Literature at this point
in your life?
What were your first experiences and
how have they developed and
changed?
13. Student Reflection Journal
