THE LAYOT FOLLOW THE CODES AND CONVENTIONS OF ALL OTHER
POSTERS: THE MOVIE TITLE AS THE BIGGEST TEXT ON THE PAGE, THE
MAIN CHARACTER IS THE CENTRE OF THE PAGE AND THE MAIN FOCUS
OF THE POSTER. THERE IS ALSO AN OPTIONAL RATING AND QUOTE AS
SELLING POINTS FOR THE MOVIE. I ALSO FOLLOWED THE
PHOTOGRAPHY SETTING OF THE WOODS – I DECIDED TO DO SO AS
THE AUDIENCE CAN EASILY IDENTIFY WITH THIS LOCATION AS A
SOMEWHERE SPOOKY, TRAUMATIC, CREEPY SETTING. I ALSO BUILT ON
THE STEREOTYPE OF HAVING A FEMALE MAIN CHARACTER, SOMEONE
WHO IS WEAKEND AND PORTRAYED AS THE DAMSEL IN DISTRESS.

I FOCUSED MY ATTENTION OF EMPIRE, AN ALREADY ESTABLSHED
MOVIE MAGAZINE. I FOLLOWED THIS MAGAZINES CODES AND
CONVENTIONS WHICH CAN APPLIED TO ALL OTHER MAGAZINES ALSO.
THE TYPICAL CODES AND CONVENTIONS I FOLLOWED; THE PLUGS
AND PUFFS TO BE ON THE LEFT (MAJORITY), INCLUDING THE
BARCODE AT THE BOTTOM, THE ISSUE NUMBER, THE COVER LINE. I
ALSO MADE SURE THAT THERE WAS ONLY CHARACTER ON THE
MAGAZINE, THE MAIN CHARACTER SO THE AUDIENCE CAN EASILY
IDENTIFY WITH THAT CHARACTER, NOT ONLY THIS BUT THE MAIN
CHARACTER IS USUALLY A HIGH PROFILE ACTRESS/ACTOR, THIS
HELPS CREATE PUBLICITY AND CONVEYS TO THE FAN BASE THAT
THEY SHOULD WATCH THIS MOVIE/BUY THIS MAGAZINE.

I DECIDED TO USE A BLACK AND WHITE IMAGE FROM MY
PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT WHICH IS QUITE UNUSUAL, I FELT IT HELPED
THE BOLD MASTHEAD AND COVER LINE STAND OUT EVEN MORE
WHILST ALSO DRAWING ATTENTION TO THE MODEL ON THE FRONT
COVER. I ALSO DECIDED TO USE THE PHOTO OF THE MODEL LOOKING
DOWN AT THE BOX RATHER THAN AT THE CAMERA, THIS IS BREAKING
CONVENTIONS BUT I FELT IT HELPED DRAW A LOT OF ATTENTION TO
THE PROP OF THE BOX, MY INTENTIONS IS TO MAKE THE AUDIENCE
QUESTION WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE BOX AND THEREFORE
ENCOURAGE THEM TO WATCH THE MOVIE AS THEY WANT TO FIND
OUT WHAT HAPPENS.

I LOOKED AT VARIETY OF TRAILERS TO ESTABLISH THE CODES AND
CONVENTIONS, I FOLLOWED THE MAJORITY OF THESE CODES. I
INCLUDED AN OPENING AND CLOSING CREDIT WHICH INCLUDED THE
MOVIE TITLE AND THE RELEASE DATE. I INCLUDED A RANGE OF
DIFFERENT SHOT TYPES; CLOSE UP, OVER THE SHOULDER, TRACK,
VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL PAN, WIDE SHOT AND A NON LINEAR
SEQUENCING. I ALSO INCLUDED BOTH DIALOGUE AND SOUNDTRACK.
DIALOGUE TO HELP CREATE SOME CONTEXT AND SOUNDTRACK TO
HELP BUILD TENSION AND DRAMA.

I DECIDED NOT TO USE ANY SOUND AFFECTS AS I FELT IT COULD
COME OFF AS QUITE CHEESY AND SEEM QUITE NON PROFESSIONAL. I
DECIDED TO USE NO TRANSITIONAL AFFECTS, I WANTED THE TRAILER
TO BE QUITE SNAPPY BUT ALSO QUITE IRRATIC AND SOME WHAT
DISORIATING. I ALSO DECIDED TO USE EVERYDAY SETTINGS, I
WANTED THE TRAILER TO LOOK AS REALISTIC AS POSSIBLE SO THE
TARGET AUDIENCE CAN RELATE EASILY.
