Problem:
Seed is one of the most important factors for the development of aquaculture. There is a gap
between total demand of (……million fry) and supply (….millions) of fry of tilapia. Nature of
problems:
Quantity – not adequate fry / fingerlings, not adequate supply. Need year-round supply
Quality – lack of mono-sex fry production and supply (tilapia)
Limited choice of species / genetic quality of both the species
Policy problem – introduction of new species is not allowed
Goal: Food security and malnutrition
