This document discusses how social media can facilitate tacit knowledge sharing practices between employees in governmental bodies. It notes that tacit knowledge includes ideas, experiences, feelings and know-how that are easiest to share face-to-face. However, face-to-face sharing can be time consuming if employees work apart. It suggests that social media enable interactions between distant employees, and that collective tacit knowledge sharing through the right tools can enhance organizational learning and intelligence, though more evidence is needed on how well social media support such sharing.
