Federation in Cloud Data Management:
Challenges and Opportunities
Companies are increasingly moving their data processing to the cloud, for reasons of cost, scalability,
and convenience, among others. However, hosting multiple applications and storage systems on the
same cloud introduces resource sharing and heterogeneous data processing challenges due to the
variety of resource usage patterns employed, the variety of data types stored, and the variety of query
interfaces presented by those systems. Furthermore, real clouds are never perfectly symmetric—there
often are differences between individual processors in their capabilities and connectivity. In this paper,
we introduce a federation framework to manage such heterogeneous clouds. We then use this
framework to discuss several challenges and their potential solutions.

Moving Past Infrastructure Limitations Presented by MediaMath This presentation was given at a Big Data Warehousing Meetup with Caserta Concepts, MediaMath and Qubole. The instant-on, nearly unlimited storage and computing capabilities of AWS has made it the defacto solution for a full spectrum of organizations needing to process large amounts of data. What's more, an ecosystem of value-added platforms has emerged to further ease and democratize the implementation of cloud based solutions. Qubole has developed a great platform for easily deploying and managing ephemeral and long-lived Hadoop and Spark clusters on AWS. Moving Past Infrastructure Limitations: Data Warehousing at MediaMath Over the past year and a half, MediaMath has undertaken a “data liberation” effort in an attempt to leave their bigbox, monolithic data warehouse behind. In this talk, Rory Sawyer, Software Engineer at MediaMath, will describe how this effort transformed MediaMath’s legacy architecture and legacy mindset, which imposed harsh inefficiencies on data sharing and utilization. The current mindset removes these inefficiencies and allows them to say “yes” to more projects and ideas. Rory will also demo how MediaMath uses Amazon Web Services and Qubole so that infrastructure is no longer a limiting factor on what and how users query. This combination allows them to scale their resources up and down as needed while bridging different data sources and execution engines. Using and extending MediaMath’s data warehousing is no longer a privileged activity but an ability that every employee and client has.

The concept of Genetic algorithm is specifically useful in load balancing for best virtual machines distribution across servers. In this paper, we focus on load balancing and also on efficient use of resources to reduce the energy consumption without degrading cloud performance. Cloud computing is an on demand service in which shared resources, information, software and other devices are provided according to the clients requirement at specific time. It‟s a term which is generally used in case of Internet. The whole Internet can be viewed as a cloud. Capital and operational costs can be cut using cloud computing. Cloud computing is defined as a large scale distributed computing paradigm that is driven by economics of scale in which a pool of abstracted virtualized dynamically scalable , managed computing power ,storage , platforms and services are delivered on demand to external customer over the internet. cloud computing is a recent field in the computational intelligence techniques which aims at surmounting the computational complexity and provides dynamically services using very large scalable and virtualized resources over the Internet. It is defined as a distributed system containing a collection of computing and communication resources located in distributed data enters which are shared by several end users. It has widely been adopted by the industry, though there are many existing issues like Load Balancing, Virtual Machine Migration, Server Consolidation, Energy Management, etc.

IMPROVEMENT OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN CLOUD COMPUTING BY LOAD BALANCING ALGORITHM

More and more enterprises and organizations are hosting their data into the cloud, in order to reduce the IT maintenance cost and enhance the data reliability. However, facing the numerous cloud vendors as well as their heterogenous pricing policies, customers may well be perplexed with which cloud(s) are suitable for storing their data and what hosting strategy is cheaper. The general status quo is that customers usually put their data into a single cloud (which is subject to the vendor lock-in risk) and then simply trust to luck. Based on comprehensive analysis of various state-of-the-art cloud vendors, this paper proposes a novel data hosting scheme (named CHARM) which integrates two key functions desired. The first is selecting several suitable clouds and an appropriate redundancy strategy to store data with minimized monetary cost and guaranteed availability. The second is triggering a transition process to re-distribute data according to the variations of data access pattern and pricing of clouds. We evaluate the performance of CHARM using both trace-driven simulations and prototype experiments. The results show that compared with the major existing schemes, CHARM not only saves around 20% of monetary cost but also exhibits sound adaptability to data and price adjustments.

It enables ubiquitous accessing and processing of information without the need of excessive computing facilities. In this work, we plan to brief some of the issues in aggregating the cloud services, discovering futuristic cloud service requests, develop a repository of the same and propose an agent based Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning system for cloud clients.

Cloud computing refers to a location that allows us to preserve our precious data and use computing and networking services on a pay-as-you-go basis without the need for a physical infrastructure. Cloud computing now provides us with powerful data processing and storage, exceptional availability and security, rapid accessibility and adaption, ensured flexibility and interoperability, and time and cost efficiency. Cloud computing offers three platforms (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) with unique capabilities that promise to make it easier for a customer, organization, or trade to establish any type of IT business. We compared a variety of cloud service characteristics in this article, following the comparing, it's straightforward to pick a specific cloud service from the possible options by comparison with three chosen cloud providers such as Amazon, Microsoft Azure, and Digital Ocean. By using findings of this study to not only identify similarities and contrasts across various aspects of cloud computing, as well as to suggest some areas for further study.

In cloud computing, collaborative cloud computing(CCC) is the emerging technology where globally-dispersed cloud resource belonging to different organization are collectively used in a cooperative manner to provide services. In previous research, Harmony enables a node to locate its desired resources and also find the reputation of the located resources, so that a client can choose resource providers not only by resource availability but also by the provider’s reputation of providing the resource. In proposed system to reform resource utilization based on optimal time period to allocate resources to the neural network training and to load factor calculation the dynamic priority scheduling technique is used to assign the priority to the cloud users according to their load. The dynamic priority scheduling algorithm strikes the right balance between performance and power efficiency.
