facing surfaces .

driver for the natural ventilation of the

• An important signature element
• In combination with the solar chimney, perform as the ‘lungs’ of the
building.
• Passively pretreats the air before it enters the building to provide
100% fresh air regardless of outside temp.
• Each of the three south atrium feature as 24 m tall custom-designed
water curtain
• Through the modulation of the recycled water humidify or
dehumidify the air depending on the season.

» DOUBLE FACADE ATRIUMS
• The south and the north atriums are enlarged versions of
the double façade cavity
• Used as the supply and exhaust air collectors for the
building.
• The air when in the atrium space is further conditioned by
the tall water feature before being drawn into the office’s
raised floors
• The chilled water humidifies the air in summer and warm
water humidifies in winter.
• A formed aluminum light shelf located at the top level of
each south atrium bounces light deep into the topmost level
of each six storey neighborhood.
• Interior curtain wall separates South and North Atrium
volumes from adjacent office spaces while permitting
maximum daylight into the workspace.

• Naturally driven displacement ventilation minimizes the need
for a ‘ forced air 'circulation system

displacement ventilation via a raised floor.

drawn up to the solar chimney.
• During heating season the parade is heated with exhaust air
routed from the solar chimney.

» Passive Geothermal System
• The foundation of the building’s heating
and cooling system is the geothermal
system.
• A closed loop system consisting of 280
boreholes, six inches in diameter , 400
feet deep, scattered between a multitude
of foundation piles.

the high energy efficient condensing
boilers providing the balance during the
coldest months.
