Process
For experimenting I decided to create a adventure game, adventure
games that I took ideas from was a game such as monkey island, in
the final production I am not basing my game of anything it is
completely unique and original to me. This was made in Photoshop
and drawn in pixels on a 120x80 pixels document. I decided to make
my background screenshot a very bright colour palette because it
gives a good happy mood which suits the genre and theme of the
game. Everything is drawn free hand and not based on anything just
exactly like my actual game is going to be in the end. With my final
project I would want to use context sensitive movements where the
camera switches between third and first person. I am going to include
a timer at the top of the screen in my final project and I am also going
to make a bar in which you can hold items at the bottom that you
find but they will not be items such as these only the book will be the
same because it is the one main necessary detail that I have decided
on. This is just a screenshot and of course I will create one of these
for my final product but the main way to achieve more marks is too
animate it. My game is going to be a much darker colour scheme. I
didn’t really like this background but for an experiment it was okay
because I am only doing this too get use to Photoshop and a way for
designing games. If I do not know anything then I can just research it.

Process
I also decided to create a character walk cycle animation. I
decided to make a 4 walk cycle animation where I didn’t
change the character just the position of his legs. Because
my idea is to be in 1st person I will not make a walk cycle
animation, I will just make the screen bob a little to make it
feel realistic like you are actually walking. To make a walk
cycle each different position has too be on separate layers
which you then select and hide to make it the way you want
it, then you screenshot it and add a new one. With so many
layers though which I am likely to end up with in the final
project I am going to have to give them specific names to
know which is which. I liked this walking animation but I
thought it could have been more realistic so I think that a
larger based scale would be better to use, like an 8 walk
cycle animation. All of my character designs across the
experiments are good but my idea is nothing like this mainly
due to the fact it is more realistic and not fantasy.
Process
When I was making the experiment I had to use a lot of layers.
And I had to create new ones or else everything would be stuck
together. The layers had to be in a certain order otherwise the
screen could all just be one colour instead of having all of the
details of the game animation. I used Photoshop to deign a basic
layout experiment. I made a similar idea but with a different
character and different colours. I made it by using large boxes on
Photoshop. The animation went well and it runs smoothly and
looks pretty realistic, the character does a bob which is realistic
and then he has the motion in which he swings the sword at the
monster which then flashes red to symbolise that it has taken
damage at which point the shield bar goes down. Even all the
text was hand drawn by me which is how it is going to be for the
end animation as well. With the animation finished I exported it
and I didn’t have enough time but if I di I would have gone with
this into premier and edited it a bit and then added music and
sound effects over the top of it but I have two weeks which is
plenty of time so I should get all of this done in the end for my
deadline on this project. To export it first I had to save the
document and then once this was done I went to Image>Image
Size and change the top number to 1080 PIXELS and the bottom
box to Nearest Neighbour. Once this is done go to export and
press render video and export, as a note do not save it just exit
otherwise if I would have wanted to change it at a later date ten
I could not. For my final product I am going to use non of these
factors because it is completely different to my idea for my
game, In genre and style.
