To review the food group categories.
To learn about healthy and unhealthy food.
To carry out a survey about healthy and unhealthy food.
To learn about expressions of quantity.
ACTIVITIES
ACTIVITY

Whole class

Activity 1:
First, there will be a
revision of the food
pyramid categories. Then,
the student teacher will
prompt the students to say
how much they should eat,
e.g.
How many apples
/sweets should you eat?
The student teacher will
explain how much they
should actually eat from
each food group- showing
the new labels: Eat very
little, eat little, eat some,
eat a lot/ lost of and
sticking them on the
blackboard.
Activity 2:
The student teacher will
divide the students into
groups of five o six.
A) Once they are arranged, Group work
the student teacher will
draw a chart1 on the
blackboard containing the
expressions of quantity
presented in the previous
activity (very little, a little,
some, a lot of) and ask each
group to complete the
chart with information
about their personal diet.
B) Each group will share Whole class
their work with their
partners and the student
teacher will write their
answers on the chart.

them a photocopy of a
chart/ draw a chart in the

example: Is it healthy to eat
lots of sweets? No, it isn’t
. Is it healthy to eat some
carrots? Yes, it is.
