To Conceal or Repeal: Gun Control in The United States
The United States, where guns are as American as apple pie (Cramer). In America, gun ownership
is a tradition older than the country itself and is protected by the Second Amendment. Many believe
that more gun control laws would infringe upon the right to bear arms. In the United States, there
are around 89 guns for every 100 people, and about 270,000,000 guns in the whole nation, which is
the highest total number in the world. 22% of Americans, 35% of men and 12% of women, own
more than one firearm. America 's gun culture originated from its colonial history, revolutionary
roots, frontier expansion, and the Second Amendment, which states: "A well regulated militia,
being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall
not be infringed (Shultz)." Our Founding Fathers won our Nation's freedom with the use of
firearms. After America won our independence the Founding Fathers decided to include the right to
keep and bear arms in the Constitution to ensure that the freedom that was fought for would remain.
Not only are guns becoming easier to purchase in the United States, but the ease of purchasing them
are allowing for a growing popularity. Gun control is one of the most controversial topics to hit the
court system in America. Many people believe that it is their natural born right to obtain a gun and
to be able to use

PREPARATION OUTLINE FOR INFORMATIVE SPEECH #3
Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that people who own firearms should have to register
their firearms with law enforcement.
Thesis Statement: People who own firearms are generally responsible and should have nothing to
hide when it comes to firearm safety. They should register their firearms with the police department
in order to help keep society safe.
Attention Getter: Would you feel safer if every gun owner was required to register their firearms
with the police department? Do you think it would make the United States a safer place? Well,
according to a national survey completed in 2011, 66% of Americans favor laws which would
require every gun owner to register each gun they own.
Overview of Main Points: Having a firearm registration law would potentially lead to the
identification and prosecution of violent criminals. Also, criminals who have been through the
justice system would legally be unable to purchase firearms. Finally, law enforcement agencies
would be better prepared to do their job with knowledge on what kind of firearms the suspect might
have.
1st Transition: Gun registration laws are important and having guns registered with the local law
enforcement agency could lead to the identification and prosecution of violent criminals.
I.Firearm registration laws can lead to the identification and prosecution of criminals by helping law
enforcement trace the source of firearms that are recovered from a

The Controversial Issue Of Gun Control
The controversial issue of gun control is one of the most debatable topics among politicians and
civilians alike. This is because of the complexity of gun control and the long history that is related to
the subject. Gun control is typically an effort, by the government, to create legislation that regulates
the sale and use of firearms within the country. There are various arguments that surround this topic
which include gun–related violence, accidents, self–defense, murders, suicide, constitutional rights,
and so on. James Q. Wilson, a professor who has taught at Pepperdine University, Harvard
University, and the University of California, Los Angeles, and a published author of several books,
take a negative stance on the subject of gun control. Wilson contributed to the gun control debate in
the last few years with his written op–ed article. According to Wilson, there is no possible method to
eradicate the hundreds and millions of guns that exist within the country, restrictive gun laws will
not significantly affect the United States' murder rate, and that guns play an important role in
self–defense in everyday lives. Contrary to what Wilson believes, strict gun control is necessary and
should be enforced to ensure public safety because gun laws have the power to produce a positive
outcome in the long run, reduce gun–related violence, and reduce the numerous risks that gun
ownership open. There are many people, including Professor Wilson, who claim that there are already

Persuasive Speech On Gun Control
Jovonna Smith Gun control Persuasive speech outline General Purpose: To Persuade Specific
Purpose: The purpose of my speech is to persuade my audience to inscribe letters requesting
congress to reduce the gun control laws and increase the focus on people themselves. Thesis:
Rather than making strict gun laws across the united states, congress should be reminded of the
bigger problem which is people and not guns. We should advise the Legislature to Enhance laws
and punishment that control people rather than laws that restrict the use and ownership of guns.
The Attention Step Attention: According to public speaker Stefan Molyneux, statistics show that
51% of suicides in the United states are done using firearms yet 60% of suicides in the United
Kingdom, where guns are generally banned are done with hanging or suffocation. This statistical
information explains that although guns are used to cause harm, other objects are just as useful. If
people want to harm themselves or others, they will with whatever weapons they have available.
This indicates that guns aren't the problem. Significance: The world is at grave danger with any
weapons present. Weapons should only be used for protection but they aren't. When so much time
is spent on solving the wrong piece of the problem, more lives are being taken away. I strongly
think that many people are in harm's way as long as there are people, still free, who even think to
use weapons to kill someone. According to

Second Amendment when it was being drafted, discussed, or ratified; the US Supreme Court

murdered increases 500% if a gun is present during a domestic dispute. Between 2001 and 2012
6,410 women were killed with a gun by an intimate partner in the United States. B.Sub Point B Did

Pros And Cons Of Gun Control Essay
Gun control has been one of the widely debated topics in the United States and all over the world.
Public safety, economics, and the language of the second amendment are parts of the gun control
argument that might be considered. Considering that the topic is whether or not the right to bear
arms should include assault rifles, the definition of an assault rifle needs to be established. According
to the NRA, an assault rifle is, "By U.S. Army definition, a selective–fire rifle chambered for a
cartridge of intermediate power. If applied to any semi–automatic firearm, regardless of its cosmetic
similarity to a true assault rifle, the term is incorrect." The other key term that plays a major role in
this subject is the second amendment. The second amendment states this: "A well regulated Militia,
being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall
not be infringed."
Public safety tends to be one of the biggest concerns when assault rifles are included in the
discussion. There are pro–gun control advocates say that countries such as Australia with no guns
have a lower rate of gun–related violence. The people that are against gun control believe quite the
opposite and cite the rate of gun–related violence in Chicago as their proof against it. Another
argument that supports gun control is that the injuries that are treated with our tax money, and that
this is a waste of money that could be put towards other beneficial programs for

Guns Control Against Gun Control
Many people die from gun related incidents every year. Thus, whether guns should be controlled or
not has been a converversonl topic for many years. People should be allowed to protect themselves
by owning guns, however there should be a restrictions.
People do have the the right to own guns to protect themselves. In an article entitled "Briefing:
Armed and Dangerous" The Week explains that the only way for a person to protect themselves and
or others from a person using a gun to harm others is for the person to use a gun themselves: "'The
only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun"'(11). Also, in the article "The
Great Equalizer" the author, Charles C.W. Cooke, tells the story of an african american man who
protected him and his family in order to demonstrate that people should be able to own guns in
order to protect themselves: "Or, as the Mississippi farmer and civil–rights activist Hartman
Turnbow put it with more elan, by opening fire on Klan member who were attacking his home 'I
wasn't being non–violent, I was just protectin' my family"'(Cooke 27). In addition, Cooke quotes a
University professor named Charles E. Cobb who has spend time with people who live in areas
that are prone to attacks to further explain that guns should be able to be kept in the owner's
homes: "'I lived with the families in the South. There was never a family I stayed with that didn't

The Politics of Gun Control Essay
The Politics of Gun Control
In recent years, political discourse about gun control and the Second Amendment has become
increasingly volatile. Gun lobbies such as the National Rifle Association are more organized and
aggressive and their issue agenda has evolved as new and more powerful weapons and militia
appear. On the other side of the debate, the critical wounding of James Brady gave gun control
advocates a visible martyr with strong ties to Republican conservatives. In sum, gun control and the
right to bear arms have become hotly disputed issues where political alignments are constantly
shifting.
This paper will examine gun control legislation and look at factors that affect party cohesion on this
specific issue. Paying...show more content...
Dingell won re–election, but other old–timers who voted for the bill did not, and the Democrats lost
control of Congress. So when the latest gun–control bill came up in June, Dingell didn't take any
chances. This time, instead of backing the president, he decided to join with Republicans and NRA
lobbyists to author a compromise. After a week of emotional debate, Dingell's bill went down to
defeat on both sides of the aisle, all but killing any chance for stricter gun laws this year.
The loss was crushing to anti–gun forces and the White House. In the wake of the Columbine
massacre, polls show that more than 80 percent of Americans back stricter laws (Newsweek). In
May of 1999, the Senate took advantage of the national mood to pass a tough law requiring safety
locks on new handguns and a detailed background check on buyers at gun shows. But as they have
so many times before, activists underestimated the ferocity and might of the NRA and its nearly 3
million members. (NRA.org).
The NRA unleashed thousands of callers to clog congressional switchboards while a dozen lobbyists
worked the halls. The group's Web site featured a dubious article implying thatBill Clinton, like the
Nazis, was trying to disarm the populace (NRA.org). In the end, the House passed H.R.1501, The
Juvenile Justice Reform Act of 1999, a law allowing

Gun Control
The right to bear arms dates back to the second amendment.Guns do not kill people–; it is the people
who are behind the guns. Gun control laws infringe upon the right of self–defense and deny people
their sense of safety. The police cannot protect everyone and they will not always be there when
people need safety. Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President of the NRA, stated, "The only thing
that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." With that being said, how will people help
themselves in hefty situations? What will help the most with gun control laws? Gun control laws
could give the government to much power and could lead to a chaotic situations. The National Rifle
Association's Wayne LaPierre stated, "if you...show more content...

because they think this is why there are so many killings, shootings, and so for. They are wrong
with those statements based on the fact that it is not the gun who killed, shot, or so for. It is the
person or people behind the gun making this happen. The main thing the government or people
needs to do is make more efficient laws that have to do with guns. For example, make laws that
can do background checks of any sort. Also make background checks on where and what the gun
is and what it will be used for. They could have an age limit depending on when someone could
get or acquire a gun. That will make a hefty law because young adults have guns too. Make more
laws about if the people or person have a gun, then where it should be instead in an open area
because there is no telling who could grab or what they could do with

Texas Gun Control Research
The state of Texas, however, is different from other States in matters of firearms regulations. For
one to buy firearms in Texas State there is no waiting period. The buyer gets the access to weapons
at any time as long as he can pay for it. When a law is passed, and it violates the right for any
American to bear arms, it is termed as unconstitutional thus the law must meet the requirement of the
second amendment.
Most Americans who support the Second amendment agree that it guarantees all people to own guns
for their protection against threats that may invade their homes. For many years, the American
people have owned guns, but they are required by the law to register their firearms. The case of
Heller vs. the district of Colombia gave Americans of Texas state the power to purchase guns without
much interference by the state (Lund, 2015)....show more content...
In most states of the USA, there are types of firearms that are prohibited to be owned by citizens
such as machine guns, short–barreled firearms armor–piercing ammunition and explosive weapons.
However, the state of Texas does not have measures in place to regulate such prohibited firearms by
the second amendment. The state allowed the use and carrying of handguns in public which is not
common in most States (Spitzer, 2015).
Gun control is among top controversial issues that affect the people of USA (Lund, 2015). The
battle on who is allowed to own a gun has received debates from different sides. This has therefore
called for constitutional reforms in bills and laws that govern the use of firearms. Firearm
regulations help to set policies which govern, regulate on acquisition and access to guns by civilians.
In the USA many changes have been made concerning manufacturing, selling and transportation of

Presentation Rationale Purpose: The purpose of my presentation is to persuade the American
people that guns are beneficial to the United States and should not be controlled or abolished by
the government. I want my audience to support gun rights that focus on giving the American
people the right to own and carry guns freely. My central idea is that guns are not the problem,
but a major part of the solution to gun crimes in America. Intended Audience: My target audience
would be Americans who are active voters, as they are the people who would be able to make
relaxed gun rights a possibility. The topic would also be valuable to young adults who are
approaching voting age and are forming their own opinions of laws and regulations that America
should enforce. This topic is also appropriate for any person who would like to see the Second
Amendment of the Constitution protected, and to have the right to protect themselves and their
families from harm. Significance: This topic is extremely significant because gun rights are under
attack from many politicians in America, who are attempting to take protection out of the hands of
the law–abiding citizens of this great country. Current laws in much of the country control what
kind of gun people can and cannot own, as well as when and where they can carry them (if at all).
In addition, more restrictive gun laws have not reduced mass shootings and have allowed for a
larger number of gun–related deaths to occur. Presentation Plan I.

Why Is Anti Gun-Control Necessary? Essay
The banning of firearms in America is an illegal act, and degrades the values this country was
founded on. They not only play a vital role in many people's lives, but are useful tools, fun to use,
and can protect people from harm. Our founding fathers wanted us to have them to protect ourselves
from the government, and would be disgusted at our government's current abuse, and overall
disregard of the constitution of the United States. A lot of people argue that guns kill people; this is
untrue. Guns in the hands of a negligent person have potential to kill people, just as anything else.
The statement В‘The Right to Keep and Bear Arms' from the U.S constitution seems like a pretty
solid sentence. There is really no way to misinterpret it....show more content...
However, modern times still seem to be very compatible with firearms.
Guns have numerous uses besides killing your fellow man. Hunting is a big reason to own a
weapon. Across the country, people hunt game; small and big. Some people might see this as a
cruel act, but in most states the White Tailed Dear is amazingly overpopulated. Not many complain
when you kill a cow to eat a hamburger, so it shouldn't be an issue to go hunting. People also enjoy
shooting guns at targets. You can do long range sniping with rifles, shoot clay pigeons in the air with
shot guns, or shoot targets with a hand gun. Each hobby is completely harmless, and enjoyable.
Along with the recreational activities that firearms make possible, there is self defense. Let's face it
– if you're in your home at night with an intruder in the house, who will act faster, 911 or a firearm in
the hands of a trained user? The answer is obvious. In an emergency situation, a firearm is almost
an essential. One might argue that the odds of you being held up in your own house are slim;
well so are the odds of a gun related death. If a gun user is properly trained, a gun can and would
protect people in case of an emergency.
In America, the outright banning of things that out of touch congressmen feel is harmful is all too
common. For instance, if you take the year where the absolute MOST gun deaths occurred in
America it would be 2003, and the number would be around 30,000. There were 85,000 alcohol

Many times an over zealous government takes actions that cannot be justified. A good example of
this is the Ruby Ridge Incident, where a mans wife and son were killed over a minor firearm
offense. Some States have enacted their own laws. Florida has allowed its citizens to carry a
concealed weapon. Since this law was enacted the murder rate has dropped by 29%. Over the same
period of time the nationwide murder rate increased by 11%. This clearly shows that guns in the
hands of law–abiding citizens can prevent crime. In contrast many of our countries major cities
have banned all guns. In 1976 guns were banned in Washington DC. Since then the murder rate

Gun Control Essay Outline

  • 1. Morgan Lipsey Mrs. Adams Composition 101 2 December 2016 To Conceal or Repeal: Gun Control in The United States The United States, where guns are as American as apple pie (Cramer). In America, gun ownership is a tradition older than the country itself and is protected by the Second Amendment. Many believe that more gun control laws would infringe upon the right to bear arms. In the United States, there are around 89 guns for every 100 people, and about 270,000,000 guns in the whole nation, which is the highest total number in the world. 22% of Americans, 35% of men and 12% of women, own more than one firearm. America 's gun culture originated from its colonial history, revolutionary roots, frontier expansion, and the Second Amendment, which states: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (Shultz)." Our Founding Fathers won our Nation's freedom with the use of firearms. After America won our independence the Founding Fathers decided to include the right to keep and bear arms in the Constitution to ensure that the freedom that was fought for would remain. Not only are guns becoming easier to purchase in the United States, but the ease of purchasing them are allowing for a growing popularity. Gun control is one of the most controversial topics to hit the court system in America. Many people believe that it is their natural born right to obtain a gun and to be able to use Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Outline For Informative Speech On Firearms Essay PREPARATION OUTLINE FOR INFORMATIVE SPEECH #3 Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that people who own firearms should have to register their firearms with law enforcement. Thesis Statement: People who own firearms are generally responsible and should have nothing to hide when it comes to firearm safety. They should register their firearms with the police department in order to help keep society safe. Attention Getter: Would you feel safer if every gun owner was required to register their firearms with the police department? Do you think it would make the United States a safer place? Well, according to a national survey completed in 2011, 66% of Americans favor laws which would require every gun owner to register each gun they own. Overview of Main Points: Having a firearm registration law would potentially lead to the identification and prosecution of violent criminals. Also, criminals who have been through the justice system would legally be unable to purchase firearms. Finally, law enforcement agencies would be better prepared to do their job with knowledge on what kind of firearms the suspect might have. 1st Transition: Gun registration laws are important and having guns registered with the local law enforcement agency could lead to the identification and prosecution of violent criminals. I.Firearm registration laws can lead to the identification and prosecution of criminals by helping law enforcement trace the source of firearms that are recovered from a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. The Controversial Issue Of Gun Control The controversial issue of gun control is one of the most debatable topics among politicians and civilians alike. This is because of the complexity of gun control and the long history that is related to the subject. Gun control is typically an effort, by the government, to create legislation that regulates the sale and use of firearms within the country. There are various arguments that surround this topic which include gun–related violence, accidents, self–defense, murders, suicide, constitutional rights, and so on. James Q. Wilson, a professor who has taught at Pepperdine University, Harvard University, and the University of California, Los Angeles, and a published author of several books, take a negative stance on the subject of gun control. Wilson contributed to the gun control debate in the last few years with his written op–ed article. According to Wilson, there is no possible method to eradicate the hundreds and millions of guns that exist within the country, restrictive gun laws will not significantly affect the United States' murder rate, and that guns play an important role in self–defense in everyday lives. Contrary to what Wilson believes, strict gun control is necessary and should be enforced to ensure public safety because gun laws have the power to produce a positive outcome in the long run, reduce gun–related violence, and reduce the numerous risks that gun ownership open. There are many people, including Professor Wilson, who claim that there are already Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Speech On Gun Control Jovonna Smith Gun control Persuasive speech outline General Purpose: To Persuade Specific Purpose: The purpose of my speech is to persuade my audience to inscribe letters requesting congress to reduce the gun control laws and increase the focus on people themselves. Thesis: Rather than making strict gun laws across the united states, congress should be reminded of the bigger problem which is people and not guns. We should advise the Legislature to Enhance laws and punishment that control people rather than laws that restrict the use and ownership of guns. The Attention Step Attention: According to public speaker Stefan Molyneux, statistics show that 51% of suicides in the United states are done using firearms yet 60% of suicides in the United Kingdom, where guns are generally banned are done with hanging or suffocation. This statistical information explains that although guns are used to cause harm, other objects are just as useful. If people want to harm themselves or others, they will with whatever weapons they have available. This indicates that guns aren't the problem. Significance: The world is at grave danger with any weapons present. Weapons should only be used for protection but they aren't. When so much time is spent on solving the wrong piece of the problem, more lives are being taken away. I strongly think that many people are in harm's way as long as there are people, still free, who even think to use weapons to kill someone. According to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Introduction A.Attention getter: "Why on earth would you want someone who beats their wife to have access to a gun?", after asking this question to Colorado Senator Vicki Marble, 11–year–old boy was kicked out of his Cub Scout den. B. Background and Audience Relevance: According to one of the LA Times article published in September 2016 about 64% California residents are pro gun–control but 2016 was year when 1.3 million guns were sold in California. Which means people are scared and they are buying guns. And when scared people have guns, terrible things happen. Oral Citation 1: 89.3 KCPP, March 15, 2017 C. Initially it wasn't an individual right. Oral Citation 2: Cornell Law School, Cornell University, accessed October 26, 2017. B.Sub point B Therefor we can say that there was no mention of an individual right to bear arms in the notes about the Second Amendment when it was being drafted, discussed, or ratified; the US Supreme Court declined to rule in favor of the individual right four times between 1876 and 1939; and all law articles on the Second Amendment from 1888 to 1959 stated that an individual right was not guaranteed. Oral Citation 3: ProCon.org, website, accessed October 26, 2017. Transition to next point (signpost, review, preview): Now that we have talked about the second Amendment, lets discuss some cons of having guns. III. Main Point II. A.Sub Point A According to ProCon.org, five women are murdered with guns every day in the United States. In fact, a woman 's risk of being murdered increases 500% if a gun is present during a domestic dispute. Between 2001 and 2012 6,410 women were killed with a gun by an intimate partner in the United States. B.Sub Point B Did you know that in United States, twelve states including Idaho, Wyoming, Arizona, North Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi, West Virginia, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Alaska allow anyone to buy guns without any permit! Many people think all those states are southern states which is very Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Pros And Cons Of Gun Control Essay Gun control has been one of the widely debated topics in the United States and all over the world. Public safety, economics, and the language of the second amendment are parts of the gun control argument that might be considered. Considering that the topic is whether or not the right to bear arms should include assault rifles, the definition of an assault rifle needs to be established. According to the NRA, an assault rifle is, "By U.S. Army definition, a selective–fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate power. If applied to any semi–automatic firearm, regardless of its cosmetic similarity to a true assault rifle, the term is incorrect." The other key term that plays a major role in this subject is the second amendment. The second amendment states this: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Public safety tends to be one of the biggest concerns when assault rifles are included in the discussion. There are pro–gun control advocates say that countries such as Australia with no guns have a lower rate of gun–related violence. The people that are against gun control believe quite the opposite and cite the rate of gun–related violence in Chicago as their proof against it. Another argument that supports gun control is that the injuries that are treated with our tax money, and that this is a waste of money that could be put towards other beneficial programs for Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 8. Guns Control Against Gun Control Many people die from gun related incidents every year. Thus, whether guns should be controlled or not has been a converversonl topic for many years. People should be allowed to protect themselves by owning guns, however there should be a restrictions. People do have the the right to own guns to protect themselves. In an article entitled "Briefing: Armed and Dangerous" The Week explains that the only way for a person to protect themselves and or others from a person using a gun to harm others is for the person to use a gun themselves: "'The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun"'(11). Also, in the article "The Great Equalizer" the author, Charles C.W. Cooke, tells the story of an african american man who protected him and his family in order to demonstrate that people should be able to own guns in order to protect themselves: "Or, as the Mississippi farmer and civil–rights activist Hartman Turnbow put it with more elan, by opening fire on Klan member who were attacking his home 'I wasn't being non–violent, I was just protectin' my family"'(Cooke 27). In addition, Cooke quotes a University professor named Charles E. Cobb who has spend time with people who live in areas that are prone to attacks to further explain that guns should be able to be kept in the owner's homes: "'I lived with the families in the South. • 9. The Politics of Gun Control Essay The Politics of Gun Control In recent years, political discourse about gun control and the Second Amendment has become increasingly volatile. Gun lobbies such as the National Rifle Association are more organized and aggressive and their issue agenda has evolved as new and more powerful weapons and militia appear. On the other side of the debate, the critical wounding of James Brady gave gun control advocates a visible martyr with strong ties to Republican conservatives. In sum, gun control and the right to bear arms have become hotly disputed issues where political alignments are constantly shifting. This paper will examine gun control legislation and look at factors that affect party cohesion on this specific issue. Paying...show more content... Dingell won re–election, but other old–timers who voted for the bill did not, and the Democrats lost control of Congress. So when the latest gun–control bill came up in June, Dingell didn't take any chances. This time, instead of backing the president, he decided to join with Republicans and NRA lobbyists to author a compromise. After a week of emotional debate, Dingell's bill went down to defeat on both sides of the aisle, all but killing any chance for stricter gun laws this year. The loss was crushing to anti–gun forces and the White House. In the wake of the Columbine massacre, polls show that more than 80 percent of Americans back stricter laws (Newsweek). In May of 1999, the Senate took advantage of the national mood to pass a tough law requiring safety locks on new handguns and a detailed background check on buyers at gun shows. But as they have so many times before, activists underestimated the ferocity and might of the NRA and its nearly 3 million members. (NRA.org). The NRA unleashed thousands of callers to clog congressional switchboards while a dozen lobbyists worked the halls. The group's Web site featured a dubious article implying thatBill Clinton, like the Nazis, was trying to disarm the populace (NRA.org). • 10. Gun Control Research Paper Outline Gun Control The right to bear arms dates back to the second amendment.Guns do not kill people–; it is the people who are behind the guns. Gun control laws infringe upon the right of self–defense and deny people their sense of safety. The police cannot protect everyone and they will not always be there when people need safety. Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President of the NRA, stated, "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." With that being said, how will people help themselves in hefty situations? What will help the most with gun control laws? Gun control laws could give the government to much power and could lead to a chaotic situations. The National Rifle Association's Wayne LaPierre stated, "if you...show more content... They believe that guns should be banned and taken away. The people on this side think this because they think this is why there are so many killings, shootings, and so for. They are wrong with those statements based on the fact that it is not the gun who killed, shot, or so for. It is the person or people behind the gun making this happen. The main thing the government or people needs to do is make more efficient laws that have to do with guns. For example, make laws that can do background checks of any sort. Also make background checks on where and what the gun is and what it will be used for. They could have an age limit depending on when someone could get or acquire a gun. That will make a hefty law because young adults have guns too. Make more laws about if the people or person have a gun, then where it should be instead in an open area because there is no telling who could grab or what they could do with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Texas Gun Control Research The state of Texas, however, is different from other States in matters of firearms regulations. For one to buy firearms in Texas State there is no waiting period. The buyer gets the access to weapons at any time as long as he can pay for it. When a law is passed, and it violates the right for any American to bear arms, it is termed as unconstitutional thus the law must meet the requirement of the second amendment. Most Americans who support the Second amendment agree that it guarantees all people to own guns for their protection against threats that may invade their homes. For many years, the American people have owned guns, but they are required by the law to register their firearms. The case of Heller vs. the district of Colombia gave Americans of Texas state the power to purchase guns without much interference by the state (Lund, 2015)....show more content... In most states of the USA, there are types of firearms that are prohibited to be owned by citizens such as machine guns, short–barreled firearms armor–piercing ammunition and explosive weapons. However, the state of Texas does not have measures in place to regulate such prohibited firearms by the second amendment. The state allowed the use and carrying of handguns in public which is not common in most States (Spitzer, 2015). Gun control is among top controversial issues that affect the people of USA (Lund, 2015). The battle on who is allowed to own a gun has received debates from different sides. This has therefore called for constitutional reforms in bills and laws that govern the use of firearms. Firearm regulations help to set policies which govern, regulate on acquisition and access to guns by civilians. • 12. Gun Rights Speech Outline Presentation Rationale Purpose: The purpose of my presentation is to persuade the American people that guns are beneficial to the United States and should not be controlled or abolished by the government. I want my audience to support gun rights that focus on giving the American people the right to own and carry guns freely. My central idea is that guns are not the problem, but a major part of the solution to gun crimes in America. Intended Audience: My target audience would be Americans who are active voters, as they are the people who would be able to make relaxed gun rights a possibility. The topic would also be valuable to young adults who are approaching voting age and are forming their own opinions of laws and regulations that America should enforce. This topic is also appropriate for any person who would like to see the Second Amendment of the Constitution protected, and to have the right to protect themselves and their families from harm. Significance: This topic is extremely significant because gun rights are under attack from many politicians in America, who are attempting to take protection out of the hands of the law–abiding citizens of this great country. Current laws in much of the country control what kind of gun people can and cannot own, as well as when and where they can carry them (if at all). In addition, more restrictive gun laws have not reduced mass shootings and have allowed for a larger number of gun–related deaths to occur. Presentation Plan I. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Gun Control Is Unconstitutional Gun Control Is Unconstitutional Is it right to guarantee 100% of your rights outlined in Constitution of the United States of America in one area, but only about 90% in another area? The Second Amendment allows citizens the right to bear arms. This topic is very important to every traditional and patriotic American that wants to provide and protect for their families. Americans need to see that guns are not the trouble for all the violence and crimes that are reported on the news. Guns are needed for protection and owning a gun is not unconstitutional. John Lott, PhD,and David Mustard. PhD, which claim "more guns equal less crime". This shows that you don't even need to harm someone to protect yourself . We need guns for safety of our families at home or on the street and to protect our personal property we have worked hard for. From my own experience, my neighbor pulled a loaded gun on a intruder and didn't even need to shoot for the intruder to obey. Nobody was harmed and nobody was killed; the intruder just left. Moreover, there are dangerous animals at least in California that I know of roaming wild even on residential streets. For example my Dad's friend had a Mountain lion attack his pigs and he had to grab his shotgun to protect his livestock and when he went outside the Mountain lion charged at him and he had to shoot the Dangerous Mountain lion. Events similar to this are very common for Americans living in country and rural areas, that need to protect themselves and their livestock. Self defense is most respected and better for the community then being a victim. It is up to you for the safety of yourself and your loved ones. • 17. Why Is Anti Gun-Control Necessary? Essay The banning of firearms in America is an illegal act, and degrades the values this country was founded on. They not only play a vital role in many people's lives, but are useful tools, fun to use, and can protect people from harm. Our founding fathers wanted us to have them to protect ourselves from the government, and would be disgusted at our government's current abuse, and overall disregard of the constitution of the United States. A lot of people argue that guns kill people; this is untrue. Guns in the hands of a negligent person have potential to kill people, just as anything else. The statement В‘The Right to Keep and Bear Arms' from the U.S constitution seems like a pretty solid sentence. There is really no way to misinterpret it....show more content... However, modern times still seem to be very compatible with firearms. Guns have numerous uses besides killing your fellow man. Hunting is a big reason to own a weapon. Across the country, people hunt game; small and big. Some people might see this as a cruel act, but in most states the White Tailed Dear is amazingly overpopulated. Not many complain when you kill a cow to eat a hamburger, so it shouldn't be an issue to go hunting. People also enjoy shooting guns at targets. You can do long range sniping with rifles, shoot clay pigeons in the air with shot guns, or shoot targets with a hand gun. Each hobby is completely harmless, and enjoyable. Along with the recreational activities that firearms make possible, there is self defense. Let's face it – if you're in your home at night with an intruder in the house, who will act faster, 911 or a firearm in the hands of a trained user? The answer is obvious. In an emergency situation, a firearm is almost an essential. One might argue that the odds of you being held up in your own house are slim; well so are the odds of a gun related death. If a gun user is properly trained, a gun can and would protect people in case of an emergency. In America, the outright banning of things that out of touch congressmen feel is harmful is all too common. For instance, if you take the year where the absolute MOST gun deaths occurred in America it would be 2003, and the number would be around 30,000. There were 85,000 alcohol Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A good example of this is the Ruby Ridge Incident, where a mans wife and son were killed over a minor firearm offense. Some States have enacted their own laws. Florida has allowed its citizens to carry a concealed weapon. Since this law was enacted the murder rate has dropped by 29%. Over the same period of time the nationwide murder rate increased by 11%. This clearly shows that guns in the hands of law–abiding citizens can prevent crime. In contrast many of our countries major cities have banned all guns. In 1976 guns were banned in Washington DC. Since then the murder rate has risen 400%. According to a CBS poll, 64% of Americans rightfully understand and don't believe gun control laws reduce crime anyway. History has proven that every nation, which has disarmed its citizenry, has ended up with a dictator, a police state, and with countless horrible atrocities. It is true that we either learn from history or history will repeat itself. Personal Protection Not only is it our right to own guns for protection against a overbearing government, but also against those who intend to infringe on the peoples security. The criminals don't care about gun control laws for themselves. Actually, they are hoping for more laws will pass for gun control. It makes breaking the law safer and easier for them.
