2. Why I like the Black Keys
Apart from the obvious reason that I really like this bands music. There are other reason
that I like this band.
0 I like all of the albums that this band has created which is one reason for me liking
them. This is because they have changed their music as they have progressed so their
first few albums are totally different from their recent album. So I liked the fact that they
have changed over time.
0 Another reason for me liking them is that you can see the progression of their music and
how they became popular, they worked really hard to get where they are today. They are
inspirational which I like.
0 I like the black keys because they are making music because they enjoy making music
and they are not making it purely for the reason of making money, they seem more like
real people. There music seems more real as they create it themselves.
0 This is also apparent in their music videos and their YouTube channel as they like to
have a laugh and make funny music videos which I find brilliant to watch.
0 Another reason that I like them is because they like to show their emotions with
relationships through their songs that they create, this was mostly shown in their latest
album called turn blue where the singer went through a divorce. Yet again they seem to
be real people instead of celebrities you see on television. This shows you can relate to
them.
0 Underdogs, I liked the fact that they have become more popular as they go and they have
kept on making their music better instead of making it worse.

3. Assumptions on the fans
0 People who don’t take things seriously and like to enjoy themselves. This is because
they named their album el-Camino as they looked outside and saw an el-Camino and
like the name and thought it would be funny to call the album this. I also made this
assumption as the music videos that they make are funny as well. They like to joke.
0 ordinary people who appreciate music from all genres and other bands. This is
because the black keys hit a various different genre and genres that I appeals to niche
groups as well as popular genres. The first album that they had created was garage
rock and blues rock. Whereas the latest album turn blue includes psychedelic rock
added which changes the whole feel to the album. Psychedelic rock has spawned
from loads of different genres like folk rock, jazz and baroque pop. They have
changed there style throughout as well as keeping what is good about there music;
there different and hard to compare to other bands.
0 Fans are more likely to be younger in mid teens to 30. this is because younger people
are more likely to be aware of the band and the gigs and festivals that the band are
playing.
0 Fans enjoy hobbies such as playing musical instruments and playing video games.
This assumption is because the band members enjoy playing music and play a very
different style of music that will capture different musicians. As for video games I
watched a video where Dan Aeurbach was in an interview where he mentions that he
goes home after not completing a job he was given and played video games.

4. Where I got the Assumptions
from.
0 I got the assumptions from me and who I am and why I am a
fan of there music.
0 I also got these assumptions from talking to friends who like
the band as well. I looked at other peoples thoughts on the
music through reviews on albums and comments on YouTube.
Here are some examples: “hahaha… This video made me
laugh so much” This was a comment on a YouTube video.
0 I also got these assumptions from people who like the black
keys music by finding out what's there favorite album and
song.

5. Question 1
These results are from the first
question. As you can see the majority
of people are of age 11-20 which could
be because they have recently turned
popular. Younger people are have more
knowledge on technology and
computers so they are more likely to
be aware of the band.
In relation to my assumptions. This
agrees with my assumption as nearly
all the people who answered this
survey are of age mid teens to 30. with
over 50% being ages 11-20.

6. Question 2
These results from
question 2 show that the
majority of the fans are
male.
I didn’t make any
assumptions for the
gender of the black keys
fans as I couldn’t back up
my assumption with any
evidence therefore not
being able to actual make
an assumption of the
gender of the fans.

7. Question 3
I asked this question because I wanted to
see if the black keys fans liked other bands
and not only that, to see if the other bands
were similar to the black keys or not. As
you can see the majority of people put the
black keys which is not surprising as I
advertised this survey on the black keys
Reddit page and Facebook page. I also
added an other section to this question to
which 12 people answered with all
different bands. Are few of them where:
queens of the Stoneage, The beach boys,
Cage the elephant, ACDC and joy division.
I did assume that the black keys fans did
also listen to other artists music as the
black keys have a variety of different
sounds that they have created that differ
from album to album so it was only
inevitable that other bands are similar in
certain respects.

8. Question 4
I asked this question because it helps me
paint a picture of a typical fan of the black
keys. From this I can see that video games
where the highest recorded down hobby.
This did agree with my assumptions as the
two highest hobbies that where recorded
where playing video games and playing
music of any kind. However I was not
expecting playing video games would be the
highest. I thought playing music was going
to be the highest and playing video games
was going to be in the middle of the
hobbies.

9. Question 5
I asked this question because I wanted to find out if people are just wanting to see
one particular band or several bands. The results show that people would rather
go to a gig and see one band they like than go to a festival and see several bands.
I didn't’t make any assumptions for this as I really had nothing to make my
assumption on however I am not surprised in the results as there are other
variable that need to be taken into account. Variables like ticket prices for example.

10. Question 6
For this question I wanted
to if people actually
preferred gigs to festivals
or just went to gigs
because festivals are
expensive. As you can see
here people do actually
prefer gigs.
I didn't’t make any
assumptions on this as I
had nothing to base my
assumption on. However I
thought people would
prefer festivals not gigs.

11. Question 7
Unfortunately when making this
survey I forgot to include Reddit as
one of the websites. Most of the
people who answered this survey
did so through Reddit. Due to this I
had about 20 people answer in the
other option with Reddit.
I asked this question because I
wanted to know if the fan base was
a die hard black keys fan or just an
average fan.
From the results you can see that
there is a variety in the websites
that people visit.
I didn't make an assumption for
this either as I hadn't nothing to
make my assumption on.

12. Question 8
As you can see people like the
black keys for being good at
making music and having
albums that completely differ
from each other. They also like
the fact that they are just
normal people.
I did assume that people
would like this about them
specially their blues sound.

13. Question 9
This question I wanted
to see if any of the black
keys albums where seen
as better than the
others. There wasn’t
however an significant
album that was seen as
better than the others.
There was a mixed set
of answers.
I assumed however that
el Camino and brothers
would turn out the
favourite of the fans.

14. Question 10
This question shows that the
black keys music appeals to
people all over the world. Even
places that doesn’t have a strong
music scene. I asked this question
as I wanted to know if a certain
area listen to the black keys more
than others.
I assumed that this would be the
case as the black keys have a wide
range of music and music styles.
