STEVE JOBS AND THE PC REVOLUTION
Steven Paul Jobs (February 24, 1955 - October 5, 2011) was an American
businessman, business tycoon, industrial designer, media owner and investor. He
was co -founder, president, and CEO of Apple. After practices in 1974 at the Hewlett-
Packard company in Palo Alto, it was hired by Atari Inc. as video game designer. In
the company of the engineer Steve Wozniak, he turned from 1974 in the
development of a computer aimed at users without great computer knowledge. The
visionary capacity of Jobs and the technical preparation of Wozniak paid off in 1976
with the creation in an Apple I garage, which consisted of a combined keyboard to a
microprocessor and connecting a monitor. That year they founded Apple Computer.
The Apple II, successor of the I, became the first mass consumption computer,
the orders rained, and Apple became the fastest growing company in the US,
invoicing in 1983 2,000 million dollars. After Apple II, Jobs and Wozniak
revolutionized the world of computer industry with the launch in 1984 of the
"Macintosh", considered the first computer that responds to the concept of PC
(personal computer).
The consolidation of Apple as a reference brand of the consumer electronics
began in 2001 with the launch of the iPod, a music player and multimedia content of
which more than 220 million units have been sold until 2009. Its next step to convert
the products from the apple company in icons of the most sophisticated and fetish
consumption was the iPhone, a smart telephone with an internet connection, which
was launched in 2007 and of which 50 million units were sold until April 2010.
In summary, Steve Jobs leaves us with a mark like the man that through history
marks an important mile Successful in history: the iPod, the iPhone, and the iPad,
based on its originality, quality, although due to its high prices focused on an elite
sector of society.
