- Policies are the laws and guidelines. In driving, a policy would be the speed limit, coming to a full stop at a stop sign. These would vary from country to country. Processes is a series of tasks to obtain a desired outcome. Based on the desired outcome, using freeways or using only side streets, the process would be different. But to perform the process all the related Policies must be enforced (or you might get a ticket!). Processes give an overview, from a high level to a more detailed level, depending upon the need. Procedures give the detailed steps for that activity.
