     Southwest
        By: Darren D
Tribes
 For my presentation I am doing the Hopi
    and the Navajo.
 Both tribes are similar and different in
    their own ways
 They are both in the Southwest region
Shelters
 The Navajo live in a round wooden house
covered with sand called a Hogan. They
used sand to protect themselves from
    hot heat
 The Hopi lived in a square adobe house
called a pueblo. The adobe protects
them from desert heat and cold winters
Food Sources
 was great for them cause the climate.
 They both hunted and they farmed and
    there crops included corn, beans,
squash, cotton and hunted antelope and
    deer.
Clothing
 They both used the animal skins they
got from hunting the antelope and
    stitching cloth together
 But later on they had sheep to make
wool for clothes. Then they grew cotton
    and went up from there
Everyday life
 The men farmed hunted and built.
 The woman cooked and collected berries

 The kids helped the mother with her
house work and the father or men hunt
    for food.
Tradition and Ceremonies
 They would dance around a fire praying
to a certain God every time.
 They did their tradition at least once a
    year to please there Gods
 They were both very organized about
    when they would schedule the
    celebration before
Crafts
 The Hopi and the Navajo made colored
rugs using dyes they made they also
dyed sand to make sand paintings
 They also made jewelry out of many
    materials like silver, gold, polished
    rocks, and crystals.
 They made polished rocks by cleaning
the rock very well with warm water
Miners Materials
 They both mined in deep caves for iron
    and gold.
 Many of them died from the caves toxic
    air and the caves collapsing.
Weapons and tools
 The Hopi made bows, arrows, spears,
    and hoes.
 The Navajo made spears, rawhide
    shields, pump drills, and rakes.
 Later the Hopi and the Navajo traded
and both learned how to make each
    others items.
