Organic Chemistry:
Carbon atoms are the

building blocks of

Carbon can build any
molecule to do any
job.
Organic Valences:
Hydrogen needs to form 1 covalent bond
Biology-“valence of 2” Chem-“outer e shell”.
Organic chemistry allows us to build organic molecules out of carbons to allow us
to build any shape necessary.
Hydrocarbon Diversity:
-Carbons can be built into different molecules.
Isomers:
-Structural isomers
-Geometric isomers (“Cis isomer”)
-Enantiomers – mirror image isomer
