variety,having tall bushes.
Cajanus indicus var.flavus-Early maturing
variety,having small plant

LEAVES
Trifoleated compound
Leaflet are entire and densely silky on the lower
surface.
The intensity of green colour,length,Shape and
size varies with variety to variety.
6. Botanical Description
Pods
Fruit of pigeon pea is pod.
Length varies from 5 to 10 cm and width 0.6 to
0.9 cm.

Round and lens shaped
colour of seed being white to dirty white.

Grows well in warm tropical and subtropical
climate.

Bright sunny weather
Highly susceptible to frost
9. SOIL:-
Grown on wide range of soil.
Best soil are fertile and well drained loamy soil for
its cultivation.
FIELD PREPARATION:-
A deep plaughing with soil turner plough.
Proper leveling to ensure uniform irrigation and
drainage.
10. Planking should follow each ploughing.
Free from weeds and clods
Seed and sowing:-
Treat the seed with captan or thiram @3g/kg of
seed before sowing.
SOWING TIME:-First fortnight of june
SEED RATE:-12-15 kg/ha

Weed control:-
Two mechanical weeding;
One at 25-30 days and another at 45-60 days.
