This document provides an overview of the Mechanics of Solids - I course for the third semester of a B.Tech program. The course covers fundamental concepts in mechanics of materials including stresses, strains, shear force, bending moment, flexural stresses, combined stresses, shear stresses, and torsion of circular shafts. At the end of the course students will be able to assess material behaviors under loads, determine internal forces in beams and frames, calculate stresses and deflections, and apply concepts of torsion and springs.
