Sound:
Sound quality might be more important then visual quality(!)
Students tends to listen to a video instead of watching it
Spend enough time on testing, because each person is
individual when if it comes to mixing and editing

Applications which helped us:
Camtasia Studio (Cutting + Sound filter)
Audacity (Freeware with nice filters; Sound file must be
exported from the video file and then reimported)
Cubase, Adobe Premiere & After Effects (MAC recommended)
Organizations which helped us:
With Best Practices: elan e.v. – E-Learning Academic Network
Niedersachsen & virtUOS (University Osnabrück)
Trainings: FILM COOP, Munich & Filmhaus babelsberg, Potsdam
& the users from amateurfilm-forum.de

Rapid E-Learning Production
Rapid E-Learning Production – 4 to go
First: „Eat your own food“
Select content where you‘re an ace
Select content which is secure for you
Select content which you understand
Maybe select a „Basic topic“ – and you might be the best…
14. (14)
Rapid E-Learning Production
Rapid E-Learning Production – 3 to go
Second: Be yourself!
Show your motivation
Do it when you have a good feeling about!
Do it when you are excellent!
And accept your failures…
15. (15)
Rapid E-Learning Production
Rapid E-Learning Production – 2 to go
Third: Support the „producer“
Support him in the points mentioned before
Try the result & be honest if something is wrong
If it is tasty support, if not: Change your taste (visit
conferences and contender) or change the meal…

Rapid E-Learning Production
Rapid E-Learning Production – 1 to go
Support yourself & choose the right Equipment
You must not spend a high budget on Hardware (Priority):
1. USB Microphone for 49-159€
Like:
- Samson Go Mic Portable USB Condenser
Microphone
- Rode NT1-A
2. Good Headphones (~29€) (you need this to be able to
listen carefully)
3. High quality Webcam (79€) – i.E. Logitech HD Pro C920

Rapid E-Learning Production – 0 to go
Support yourself & choose the right Apps
1. Look for the „right“ application for you and your approach:
- Do you need „real“ post production?
- Camtasia: SnagIt (Beginners) and Camtasia (Advanced)
- Do you might go with Freeware?
- Free Screen Video Recorder, Ashampoo Snap 7
2. Think different:
- Can you use a Hangout, AC or other collaboration tool?
- Do you need a video of you?
- If you have an camcorder: Do you need to screen the
desktop?
18. (18)
Educational Institution? You Can!
Rapid E-Learning Production – 0 to go
Rapid E-Learning with standardized support
- Be aware of fear… it is a question of the mind set
- Be sure that strategic support exists

Basics: Video publishing in the Net
Basics: Video Publising in the Net – 3 to go
First: Legal requirements
1. Be sure that you own the rights on the content
Music, Sound Effects, Images, Drawings etc.
With audience, you might ask the audience…
2. Make sure that the „producer“ of the content is aware of
point 1.
Support the production process with FAQ,
Information documents and a „legal“ document which is signed
by the „producter“ and which makes clear that he has
understood the requirements.

Basics: Video publishing in the Net
Basics: Video Publising in the Net – 2 to go
Second: Where and how do you publish?
- What do you want to publish?
- What is you target group?
- What devices will the use?
„How to deal“ with mobile devices and the „Bring your own
device“ Development?
- How can you tag the information and use for SEO?
- Remember §52a (in Germany) Learn-Management-System

Where and Who is your target group?
& maybe: What is your content?
Open-Education or CC 0 Content? Great!
- Why not Torrent as distribution channel?
- Or Dropbox Sharing…?
- Be a Pirate with your OER Content on Pirate Bay!

Third: remember always the quality…
- You can not upscale video content (Brace youself: 4k is comming)
- Produce in 1080p
- Let the platform do the work
- If you do not use a platform, give the choice of quality/size
to the student
- With each video compression the video quality does not
increase (store the original files)
- If the image is compressed, expect that the sound is also
compressed…
- Failures are anthropogenic…
