3. Background:
• Student-led research on aluminum and recycling
• Students think of what could be recycled at school
• Students create a story board using the character Roger Recycle that
teaches students about recycling
• Students write a script for a PSA video
• Students record and edit PSA video using iMovie

4. Elements of 21st Century Learning:
• Problem-Based Learning – How can they teach others about
recycling?
• Collaboration – Students work together to create PSA; each plays a
different role
• Technology integration – Students complete web-based research, use
equipment for filming, iMovie software for editing
• Critical thinking – Students use investigation skills and determine how
to present findings
• Creativity – The students were able to write the script and develop
the concept for the PSA; acted and directed as well.

• Students need choice (creativity)
