Simple Present Tense 
October 1st, 2014
 Students will learn the Simple Present Tense, 
how and when it is used.
 A what time do you get up? 
 A what time do you have breakfast? 
 A what time do you go to school? 
 A what time do you get out from school? 
 A what time do you eat? 
 A what time do you get home? 
 A what time do you go to bed?
 Is used to describe an action that is regular, 
true or normal, such as: 
 1. repeated or regular actions in the present 
time . 
 2. facts. 
 3. habits 
 4. things that are always / generally true
 I take the bus to the school every morning. 
 Laura sleeps 8 hours a day. 
 Class starts at 7:00 am.
 A dog has four legs. 
 Hermosillo is hot. 
 The President of Mexico lives in Los Pinos.
 I get up early every day. 
 Carol brushes her teeth twice a day. 
 They travel to their town house every 
weekend.
 It rains a lot in winter. 
 They speak English at work. 
 It is very sunny during summer.
 We form the present tense using the base 
form of the verb. 
 For the third person we add 'S‘ at the end of 
the verb. 
Subject Verb Rest of the sentence 
I/you/we/they speak/learn English at home. 
he/she/it speaks/learns English at home.
 go – goes 
 catch – catches 
 wash – washes 
 kiss – kisses 
 fix – fixes 
 buzz – buzzes
 marry – marries 
 study – studies 
 carry – carries 
 worry – worries
 play – plays 
 enjoy – enjoys 
 say – says
 Using complete sentences. 
 Answer the questions from the warm up with 
your own information. 
 Then ask those questions to a partner, and 
write down his/her answers.
