Name, where I’m from Concentration What this will be about why I picked this topic (my passion for seeing churches respond to needs)-- mix in SW roles!
Maybe make this an objectives SLIDE
This presentation will be talking about the church’s role in community development, so first I want to do an exercise with y’all to look at why I chose to do community development work at the church--WRAP UP AND POINT TO OBJECTIVES HERE
Being the lone person caring about the city – have you ever felt this way? we created community advocates to champion city transformation in our church- ME, WE YOU GOD WE
Add details from CT notes
Talk about what we are already doing in the citygoal – this is just for the next 18?? Months – what does that goal mean?this was my challenge for the year, I got to jump into it. First I started by looking at the larger context – through history what has the churches role been in community development?MAYBE EXPLAIN SOME WORDS I AM GONG TO BE USING
Taking all this information, and what I’ve about community practice – I tried to translate to what this will look like at our church- Credit: Harris Creed
The first step in creating community advocates was deciding the values we wanted to see our church live out in communities. From that we came up with our approach to impact
Training 3 lifegroup lessons- What we mean by engage: not necessarily starting new plans, but getting in on what’s already there continual contact
Timelines and trainingsquickly
Add intangibles that have worked – people that didn’t have a place before feel very engaged (give an example)Neighborhood results, community resultsThings that have started – coaching a basketball leagueAny questions
Time for questions?
THIS IS FOR BIG AND SMALL SCALEWhat is your x-factor? Where do you already have community connections? Who are the people in your church interested in reaching the community (or already doing it?)Switch to continuum of transformatioNWhat is my final point? TIME IT!
GO BACK TO OTHER SLIDE TO SUM UP

When the church is expressing the fullness of the kingdom and holistic transformation in their city, the world takes notice. The church responding to cities looks different!!!
Maybe have some questions to ask the crowd at the end
